I've been thinking the same thing, and it's always someone with heroes that are a lot better than mine.

Are you talking about RAID defense or Arena defense?
I agree on both counts. For the arena, I put 1 crappy hero so I get run over by everyone. That way, my rank goes back and when I go to play arena I get some easy wins...but it's still the same people over and over.
As far as RAIDS, I find I very rarely get raided...probably because I spend all my gold (no incentive) and I have very strong walls for my might level (mixed 9 and 10 walls, might just over 7000) and all legendaries, some up to lvl 80.

I used to like it because I was able to figure out eventually how to defeat them... now I stay in the 1300-600 range and it sucks

Not bad, I TG is my highest at 90 and I stay in the same range. I wonder if arena is set up via might and reason you do same people is because they have same/similar might as you?

You always fight the same people because it always skips up the same number of ranks. I can only fight people whose rank ends with 29. As far as I know, the only way to get out of this rut is to reach the very high ranks and get into a new rut.

How's your Pumpkin Duke working out? I love his skill, but man he fricking dies like the Ninja for me. I've got him to lvl 66 so far. If I send Druid, Palladin, Pumpkin, Frosty, and Spirit Mage (yes, I got drunk and threw $100 at the game to get him, I'm a huge loser ), 5 men enter, 4 men leave...every fricking time.

The guilds and blue portal are both recent additions that added new dynamics and things to do. There is a "talent" page on the guild flag page that isn't active yet. I think the devs know they have to keep adding features.
That said, if you know any mobile games that are more than just a grind fest, let me know!

Who should I upgrade first?
I have just under 50,000 hero badges.
80 ThunderGod (capped)
80 Palladin (capped)
73 Frosty (probably going to garrison him when he hits 80)
67 Druid (I'm almost definitely saving 20,000 of those HB to get him over the 80 cap)
67 Pumpkin Duke (not impressed with him so far, he dies too much)
60 Spirit Mage (uncapped)
I also have a 60 Ninja (capped) that I haven't been playing and a very low level Succubus
I know the Druid is going to be one of the 2 I upgrade over 80 immediately. The question is, which other hero do I upgrade? Should I pull the trigger on Thunder God now or save the HB and wait until the Spirit Mage is at 80?

I would up the TG right now. The stronger he is, the better. If you do him and save 20k for Druid, that leaves you with 10k. So the real question is should you spend it on ninja, or save another 10k by the time spirit mage gets to 80.
I will say that I have found a good use for ninja. It costs a few HB every time you do it, but I like putting my ninja down by a gold storage and let him whack until his hp gets low, and I end the battle. On a good run I can get 500k to 1m gold in about an hour, at a cost of about 500 HB.

Druid should -always- be upgraded first if available, no questions about it.
His heal is based on damage and his survivability is the most important because if he dies so does your team.
After that, it becomes what deals the most damage and wipes out the most enemies. In your case, TG and Spirit mage. For your final 5 team, it'd be those 3 and the last 2 would be duke + whoever else you want to play with. I would go with champion (but you don't have him so pretty much anything else you like) considering that AoE stun is deadly (3 seconds is a lifetime)

I'm currently running
90 TG
86 Succubus
70 Duke
70 Champion
68 Druid
I drop the Duke in after my TG/Champ/Druid/Succbus since he has the least amount of life and I like that special he has.
