I don't trust my sales skills to get into it. I have a take it or leave it attitude. I also don't like pushing people. I probably couldn't pay my rent I was a salesman.

I said the exact same thing. It was the first sales job I had and I'm a really low key low pressure type guy. ALL you have to do is be able to talk to people. It's easy really and I can tell you within the first 5-10 minutes of talking to you if you are going to buy or not. The issue is just coming to the right price.....
It's the easiest money job I've ever had. I have friends who have been at there job for 3-10 years and make double and triple what they make. They hate me for it.
The ONLY thing that sucks is Saturday's. That's the only thing and we actually get one off month so that helps. The hours suck to sometimes.
I don't know how old you are, but if you started right now at the right store you'd make $50k plus your first year. Then it just grows as your customer base grows.

Yea. My second year I did internet, phone calls, and repeat customers and made $70k. I just sat at my desk all day. When you start though you have to hit the pavement for the first 6-9 months.
The pay is just kinda weird since it's commission only. My paycheck sometimes would be $250, and then one week it'd be $1500. So you gotta save and hit your numbers.

you must be some kind of rare specialists for that kind of cash. Several MD's in the family and they would have to work much more then that to make $350 plus
I know plenty of docs, FP's and specialist, that make that much. It depends on what and how many procedures you do and your overhead. Of course in rural areas, our overhead is MUCH lower.
ETA-all own their own practices and are not employed physicians.
I assume you live in a rural area?? People don't realize how much easier it is to make money in an underserved region. I know a General Practitioner who clears close to a million living in the middle of no where.
shite. I know a Dentist clearing 300k living in the same area.
If you are willing to work in a rural area you can make a killing.
On another note.. Any dentist here?? interested to see some of their salaries. I am applying to Dental School right now

Yes. You can make damn good money is rural areas. Overhead is MUCH lower and reimbursement is the same. Same with pharmacy. The wife makes 3 times owning her own small town pharmacy that she would working for a chain.

I highly recommend it, especially if you get a full ride. I am concentrating in finance, and that department and it's professors are top notch. A negative side of the program is the first year, and some of its "remedial" courses (I hate spending $4k on a goofy marketing class).
The alumni/corporate relationships and networking abilities the school offers is Cox's strong suit. Additionally, they got some great looking undergrad tail.
The Finance department is so skewed towards investing/financial adviser coursework that it really turns me off. I strongly prefer a corporate finance angle to a finance concentration and I am doubtful on whether SMU is strong enough there. I know the accounting side of the house feeds in well into the finance concentration, but I've taken plenty of accounting courses and have no desire to take more.
I'm looking at a dual concentration in Marketing and Analytics. Not sold on getting a degree in marketing when most of the material is content that I already know given professional experience.

Sounds like a young me. Can't teach work ethic. I cut wood, did yards (shirtless for extra), painted timberlines, worked on a cattle farm, worked in the oil fields a little. Now I'm a doctor and make serious bank even compared to other doc's because I work hard, treat people right and take pride in my work. Keep it up and you'll do fine.

Hopefully it pays off. It's kept me from racking up much debt, but my GPA isn't what it should be.
Averaging an interview a week right since the semester started despite the GPA though, so hopefully the offers start flowing soon.

As an employer, the most important thing I look for is work ethic. It's hard to find these days. Once you get your foot in the door and bust arse, you'll move up. May not be as fast as you like, but a hardworking, dependable employee is hard to come by.
