They're the only manufacturer of ammo and firearms that hasn't shipped production jobs overseas. That goes a long way with me. The reaction was knee-jerk IMO.

It's your money. Do what you want with it.

When they start building rifles with the same quality as the old 700's and shotguns with the same quality as the old Wingmaster's then and only then will I buy another Remington

If you are waiting for manufacturers to go back to the legendary quality of the early Brownings, Winchesters, Marlins and Savages you're going to be waiting a while. Back then parts were expensive and labor was cheap, now it's reversed. If you want that ultra high quality you have to do it yourself or pay a smith at a small custom shop.

I agree to an extent, but some brands haven't really fallen into this trap. The Weatherby Mark V is as good as it ever was. I believe some companies like Savage are better than ever..

Not really a trap its a business decision. Increasing trigger pull so they don't get sued, parts made from cheap stamped metals just economic realities. If you want an heirloom firearm you damn near have to buy a gun, throw away half the parts and replace them.

I agree with this. IMHO you can also add Henry rifles to this.
