I thought he was a head coach?

Brady and Bill are a package deal as well.
I wouldn't put Brees there with Peyton and Brady yet, but he's definitely in the conversation. Another Superbowl would/should absolutely put him in there, even some more playoff wins. His stats are up there with them, and he has statistically been better than both in the playoffs. They just have more wins, due to more playoff appearances, and better teams overall. What Brees does post season wise for the rest of his career will be the deciding factor for him belonging in the conversation with Manning and Brady.

That Sean Payton is an offensive guru, which is why the QB and offensive minded coach would be seen as the package deal.
Unlike the defensive minded coach and a QB....

Head Coach..QB. Their backgrounds are irrelevant.
They gameplan together and make decisions together.

Brees GOAT qb under 6' tall.

Backgrounds are very relevant when talking about the dependency of one to the other. As I said, rightly or wrongly, it is perceived that Drew and Sean are a great offensive tandem especially based on Drew blowing up once he got under Sean's tutelage.

That's like me saying Sean Payton has the same input and interest of New Orleans' defense as Belichick does for the Patriots. It's just not true. While as head coach they are ultimately responsible for the overall performance of the club, their specialties and expertise lie on opposite sides of the ball.

Lets not pretend that Brees didn't get very motivated by what happened to him after the 2005 season.....rehab, study habits, keeping his body in shape. Payton isn't the only reason for his "blow up".
However, like I said earlier, they make their decisions together. I'd be willing to bet that Belicheck spends more time with Brady than his Defense. Trust me. They are a package deal.

If Drew was playing in New England and had 4 rings then he would be right in the mix.
Brady has PLAYOFF braging rights and Manning is the greatest REGULAR SEASON QB in history. Ans as great as Rodgers is I do think he gets over hyped a bit.
Drew's legacy will be fine. Let the talking heads define what they think now of his career because Drew is still writing what they will say later!

There was actually an episode of "A Football Life" where they mentioned that Belicheck spends more time meeting one on one everyday with Brady than any other player and/or coach in the entire organization.
Brady said something like Bill may have a defensive background, but he is directly involved in developing every aspect of the offense as well as coaching Brady. TB credited Bill for a lot of his success.
Either way Drew is on pace to break every single NFL record for a QB. He is on pace to be this generations Dan Marino except with a ring, hopefully 5

For anyone wondering about the exact numbers on playoff wins, Brees has five (and four losses). Rodgers also has five. Eli has eight. Peyton has nine. Favre has 13, Elway and Bradshaw have 14, Joe Montana has 16, and Brady has 17.
Here is a full list. Pretty interesting

Until Drew wins a playoff game on the road, he will not be in the discussion for GOAT.

I don't think you realize how remarkable Drew Brees has been in the playoffs. He has the 2nd best playoff QB rating in NFL history LINK
22 touchdowns to 4 interceptions, 350+ yards/game, and 100+ QB rating. He's been 1 of the best playoff QB's in history

People need to quit belly aching. I listen to all the networks like everyone else and Brees gets plenty of respect. Now that the Saints are winning again you'll hear even more.

Yep. Hell I remember growing up pre-internet on a national basis where, outside of ESPN, there was only stuff like Sporting News and Sports Illustrated to look for 'props' on the Saints. Today there's about a hundred different channels, radio stations, satellite radio stations, websites, twitters, whatever and odds are Brees is getting praised to a significant extent somewhere for some period of time. I don't get people's fixation on it.
