Oklahoma State fans coming for LSU-Arkansas

Hello, my wife and I prefer to go check out games rather than picking a family to spend time with on Thanksgiving. This way neither side can be too upset. For years we made the drive down from Joplin, Missouri to Dallas to watch them play on Thanksgiving. The new stadium is nice, but I really don't like watching games there. Doesn't matter where your seats are, you can't help but watch the game on TV. If I'm going to do that, I might as well stay home.
Anyway last year we started our quest to go see various stadiums/crowds. We took the opportunity to cheer against Nebraska for old times sake as we went to Iowa. Was fun (other than horrible football quality) but too cold. So this year we've decided we are going to come watch a game in BR.
We've went to the Oklahoma State game at LA-LA a few years ago and had a great time. A few folks there kept telling us, "you think this is good, come to an LSU game." That stuck with us and we are excited to see game day at LSU.
I have a ton of questions as I've not done much research as of yet. Is there a good place to stay? We will probably try to get in town early enough on Thursday to watch Dallas play. I have no clue if there are any places open to eat/drink watch the game. We plan on staying Thursday night and Friday night and heading home on Saturday. It is a fairly early game, so how will that impact tailgating? Normally early games suck the life out of the crowd. Hope that doesn't happen.
And yes, I live about 90 minutes from Fayettnam, but I am not a fan of Arkansas. I'll be cheering for LSU. My wife and I are long time OSU season ticket holdersand over the last 5 years, we've missed a grand total of 6 OSU games (home, road, bowl).
Thanks for any information provided.

Stay in downtown BR. Arkansas game is always a good time, just get to campus around 5am.

Staybridge Suites at Nicholson and the South gates of LSU is hands down the best fan experience hotel. A sports bar, Walk On, next door and several restaurants open late in the very same complex as the hotel. Plus its a quick walk to the stadium. Welcome, we hope to see you there!

Yes, welcome and everything should be open around LSU both thursday and friday. Have a great time.

Thanks for the info. The Staybridge is full.
Looks like the closest place with vacancy is the Springhill Suites. They say it is 2 miles away (probably as the crow flies).
Thoughts on that or is it far enough away that it really doesn't matter at that point?

That's great. It is amazing how many places are simply closed. Heck it is hard to find a decent meal in Dallas on Thanksgiving.
Here is a question... Anybody in BR want to get together to watch Dallas play and tip back a few? Always great to talk/watch football.

Try downtown area. Very easy drive or shuttle.

Enjoy the ride - you guys will have a blast! I've been to a few OSU games and they were pretty fun. Slowly becoming the staple of the Little 12.
Oh....don't forget to bring your pissbombs..we'll have ours at the ready b/c that's how we roll.

Poke 28. I am from your area (Miami) and now live in BR. Some of my family went to OSU and some of my OK friends too. I went to LSU. You will have a blast and hopefully weather will be good. It really doesn't matter where you stay, just get to campus early.

Got the room. Didn't go by location as much as TripAdvisor score and price. Quality Suites seems to be the best bang for the buck right now. Though I have no clue if anything is around there.

Wow, small world. I grew up in Wyandotte so yeah, I know Miami very well.
I'm hoping for good weather after last year. I was buying coffee just to hold last year and it was cold by the time I got to the seat.

Try the Lod Cook hotel on the LSU campus. They are run by the university, have great facilities, and you will really enjoy your stay. Not sure about finding lunch on Thanksgiving but Friday everything will be open.

My dad is from Wyandotte. Holy crap, we might be related.
Parents live in Grove now. I have a place on Grand Lake.

I stay at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza or the other Holiday Inn with the Sports Bar also on Constitution for games. Both have bars with plenty of TVs. Decent location to get to campus.
I suspect plenty of restaurants will be open for Thanksgiving. Chains are usually all open. Ruth's Chris, Mansur's and the like will probably be open.

Does this site have private messages? I'd be interested to see not if we are related as I doubt we are, but what families you are a part of and see if I know anybody.
You living on Grand or just have a place there?
I have the hotel booked. I've been keeping an eye out on tickets. I know generally speaking if I'm patient I can get a pretty good deal.
In Iowa they had a train that would take you to the game for like $8 roundtrip. Was really damn awesome to have a nice comfy ride that lets you off 30 steps from the gate. What kind of public transport does LSU have?

Don't know if you want to go without tickets, but they'll be in great supply on game day as Arkansas is a dumpster fire and they'll be cheap.
With PT, park by past time under the over pass by mud and water bar and take a bus into campus. Think its like 5 or 10 bucks. Great deal.

One of the few games of the year it might be cold... to us at least.
