And it's not an insignficant procedure. fricking neck surgery. He's got some spinal damage and it could get worse if he doesn't get it done. He's going under the knife Tuesday, which is when they would've been playing here in Jax Beach.
He is planning on being back onstage just a little over a month later, in late October. So I guess the docs have indicated that it won't be a terribly long recovery.
Godspeed and best of luck to one of the absolute coolest and best front men in music.

Tom Araya and Phil Anselmo have both had neck and back surgeries due to years of headbanging and both are fine now. Neil will be back to 100% soon enough.

First I'd heard of it was when John Cronise, the lead singer for the Sword mentioned from the stage Friday night that they were supposed to be starting another tour with them at this time but that Neil had some medical issues. Looked it up on the net later to get the details. Sounds like he'd been hurting pretty good for a while. He'll probably be glad once it's all fixed up.

Yeah this is true and encouraging as well. You can tell he hated to have to postpone the shows. That is not something he takes lightly. Jax is rescheduled for Sunday Jan. 5th and I've got it on my calendar. I almost wonder if they'll be doing anything a little extra special for the ones who had to be rescheduled. I mean, he did say "We'll make it up to you".
Sure can't hold anything like this against em though. Hell I'll just be thrilled to see em again period. And I'm DAMN happy the makeup date works for me.

If you're not a fan already, you will be one of The Sword by the time the show's over. Check out their latest album if ya get the chance.

Oh yeah. Been checking em out for a little while now. Outstanding. I'm pumped up that they'll be opening.
