quote:I'm right. Most of you just err on the side of blaming officials no matter what. The fact is that the officials followed the letter of the rule, and Wisconsin was not prepared to run a play in time. You can't argue with that.
Jesus man, give it up. You look like an idiot trying to argue this.

Yikes man, making yourself look bad on this one

quote:And the officials did not have the ball ready for play in time, they botched it by taking an inordinate amount of time given the situation.
Wisconsin was not prepared to snap the ball in time
quote:Nobody is disagreeing with this. You can keep repeating it if it makes you feel better, but it doesn't make your argument any less short sighted and ignorant.
they lost. It's over.

It is exactly what you said, I even quoted it.

are you serious?
first they let the guy lay on the ball. then the ref had his hand up over the center and wouldnt let them snap it

quote:Regardless of what you think of what I actually said, Wisconsin was not in position to run a play, and nobody prevented them from getting in position. The defender did not commit an infraction, and the official did not take an inordinate amount of time.

So in a two minute, clock running situation it usually takes the official 11 seconds to remove one defensive player from the ball (who is only on the ball in an attempt to run the clock to begin with), and spot the ball ready for play?
I'm not talking from play end. I'm talking literally placing the ball on the ground once he has arrived at the exact spot of the dead play.

....in your opinion, for the sake of being a contrarian.

quote:No, they didn't. They instructed him to get off the ball, and he did.
first they let the guy lay on the ball
quote:For two reasons: ASU had a player off sides from the previous play, and none of Wisconsin's other players were set. Had Wisconsin been allowed to snap it then, it would have been an illegal snap that would have ended the game with a time runoff.
then the ref had his hand up over the center and wouldnt let them snap it

after like 8 seconds
the fact that you believe what you are saying is crazy. So I am not even going to argue

No you're just wrong because the officials had everything ready and under control when the clock read :00. Can't expect anything better than that. Wisconsin should have been ready in the off chance they would have counted the snap/play after the game was over and then allowed them to kick a field goal after the game was over just for the hell of it.

quote:Irrelevant. In this case, the slowest party was Wisconsin's offense, who failed to set before the clock expired. No one kept them from being set.

I'm sure this ending will be shown for years when officals are being trained. I think Wisconsin and the officials share blame here, although it is a bit gray for me whether a defensive delay should have been called. The DE for ASU who jumped on the ball handled that perfectly. He jumped on the ball when the kneel down looked awkward and got off before a delay was called (when your instinct would likely be to stay on the ball and argue).

Whether they were set was irrelevant because they would not have been allowed to snap the ball.
Are you actually trying to argue that if Wisconsin was set with say 7 seconds left the official would have decided not to completely frick up the situation?

Good, reasonable take.

Wow...this is still going on?
Wisconsin got fricked. Glad ASU got the win though.
