Exactly. whoddithat. It was Mills that took the horrible angle on the TD run and whiffed.

Collins has gotten beat for 30 yard pass plays 2x this year. 1 vs UAB, and 1 vs TCU. Did he take some bad angles too? yes. Everybody on our D has taken a bad angle 1 time or another. Hell, Mills gave up a TD run on a horrible angle and got burned for a TD vs UAB.

If Martin and Loston are in the dog house for bad angles, then all of our DBs and LBs are in the dog house for bad angles.

Has Collins been great? No. Has he been horrible like everyone is making him out to be? No. Mills mistakes has cost us 2 TDs so far. Collins has cost us first downs. But, I dont see that many people calling for Mills head.

Im not saying he hasnt made mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes in football every game. But, he hasnt made more mistakes than a lot of guys on the D have.

Weve been spoiled with DBs like PP, Mo, and TM. It doesnt matter if you have a 5 * guy or a 2 *guy out there. Players like PP, TM, and Mo dont come around that often. If you get a 5 * DB, doesnt mean hes going to be a great player like PP was. Do we have good DBs on the team? Yes. But, this is what happens when you dont have an elite DB. The other team completes some passes on them and they make some mistakes. Doesnt mean they are horrible. Were so used to having an elite guy out there that we forgot what it looks like when you have a solid, but not great, player out there.

And its not like these guys have given up big plays in crunch time or anything like that. I still am going to wait until a big game before I judge our players. Especially after the UAB game.

Mills still doesn't find the ball in the air (probably because he's usually trying to recover).. I was hoping it was a freshman glitch but damn if I didn't see him do it couple times vs UAB

This is the worst our secondary has been in a while, could very well hold us back

Really?? This secondary doesnt look any worse than last years.

15-28 for 145 yards. 9-25 for 136 yards. Combined for 24 of 53 for 281 yards. 45% completion rate. Thats what we have given up passing in 2 games. But, according to a lot of people, we have been horrible in the secondary.

Have we taken some bad angles and made some poor attempts against the run? Yes. But, its not just our DBs that are doing that either. Our LBs need to take better angles and tackle better, our DEs need to do a better job in containment.

Hate all you want on the DBs for getting burned and giving up a bunch of passing yards, but they havent done that yet. Mills got burned vs a UAB WR and missed a tackle on a poor angle vs them too. Thats it.

And when you play a good team like TCU, they will win the battle sometimes and make some big plays. They are a good team with great speed and good athletes. Most college teams have solid players. Hell UAB had some good team speed.

We won both games, 1 in very convincing fashion. The other was a solid win versus a very sound TCU team But, you would think we barely won those games the way some of the people act on here.

The softest player on defense moved to safety?

How about no?

Haha ok man. Yea they are turning heads. Doesnt mean they are going to start.

Do you know how hard it is to start at DB as a true freshman at LSU?? And not just start, but take a vets spot? Mills started because TM was gone. And its not like these vets are just regular. Mills was a Freshman All American and Collins was on the All SEC Freshman team.

Patrick Peterson, who in the cream of the crop in terms of LSU DBs, only started the last 4 games of his freshman season at LSU. And the guys that were ahead of him were average, Jai Eugene and Chris Hawkins. And it took him damn near the entire season to become the starter.

But, you think a guy that has been in the program 1 and a half weeks in RR is going to come in and start?? And hes also 165lbs. It will be hard to be in run support at that size vs SEC RBs and SEC OL.

White has a better chance of getting legit PT than RR does at the moment.

Am I saying these guys arent good looking prospects?? No. Both of these guys look very promising. The future is bright for our CBs. But, its so hard to take a vets spot and become a full time starter for us.

Your "connection"? Who? Jim Kleinpeter? Derek Ponamsky? Dandy Don? Les Miles?

All of these have publicly stated what you claim your "connection" said.

OMG THOSE PLAYS WERE SO IMPORTANT. Not. And i meant "thats it" as in those 2 plays were our worst 2 plays for the defense so far this year. Not like were giving up big plays all game long. And its not like they were major plays. We were up 28-0 and 35-7 when those plays happened. Game was well in hand. Not making an excuse, but when your dominating an inferior opponent its human nature to play comfortable and kind of relax a bit.

Once again, I will wait until we are in a big time game vs a big time opponent before I judge our team. TCU was a good test. And we looked good. Did they make some plays against us? Sure. TCUs a strong team with great team speed. Thats what happens in college football. Most teams have good players with good speed. Hell, even UAB had some good speed.
