Good to know about that price. Maybe could have got the per box cost down by buying a case, but was not familiar with the Rio's. Was just glad nothing was wrong with my gun. I bought some cheap steel shot Winchesters on sale at Wally World last fall. I compared them with the Rio's and the metal tops (both brass) are about 1/2" longer on the Winchester than the Rio's.

I have a good friend of mine who shoots sporting clays professionally. He is shooting the state shoot next weekend. Anyway, he shoots Rio's in tournaments. He buys them by the pallet! He has over & under guns that cost upwards of 10k & all he shoots is Rio shells.
Based on this info I bought a case of #8's from academy last week. I shot 4 boxes (100 rounds) through my SX3 with no problems @ all. Good shells @ a good price...

^^^ Truth.
Rio's are some of the cleanest shells (other than Winchester AA's) that you can shoot. I shoot thousands of them every year (sporting clays) in a semi-auto (Beretta A400).
They leave less residue than any other "inexpensive" ammo I've ever tried -- and they have very hard, uniform pellets that pattern really well.

Just to update, the Rio's shot just fine. He shot through 5 boxes, then a short dove hunt in the afternoon (killed 2).
I had him break his gun down when we got home and give it a cleaning, and it wasn't really any dirtier than usual.
Like others on here, I give this brand a thumbs up.
