You can see him starting to walk off on his own, look at the sideline, and drop to the ground.

No he wasnt faking. He dove after the QB and landed hard on his shoulder. A big guy like that who had all his weight come down on his shoulder would hurt a lot. He probably didnt feel its extent until after he stood up.
Also, there was an injury to an LSU guy a play or two before that so it wasnt like TCU was stepping on the gas. Im pretty sure the game had just come on after a commercial break.
