LSU vs Gumps Reality

It sucks that CRob chose to play there. It is no slight against our leadership. Im puzzled by some of the media people that I hear buying into the misconception that they are so far ahead of everyone else. Its just not reality.
The reality is we beat them on their field 2 yrs ago and they get a "bye" for losing at home and we play the extra game against Georgia in the SEC championship. They sit at home and scout how the Ga 3-4 Defense prepared for us. What a lucky break or a bunch of crap. However u choose to look at it.
Last year John Chavis' defense completely dominated their offense with their three 1st round OL and a NFL RB and QB. Studwara's offense rolled up a ton of yardage and dominated the time of possession. We were running off tackle on 3rd and 5 and getting it easily. The next week A&M beats them on their home field. They dont get to play us, A&M or Oregon. They get ND, who wouldve had their hands full with Ole Miss last year.
Add in the biased scheduling and the perfect storm has LSU on the outside looking in. At least on any station I watch or listen to.
They home grow 3 str8 NFL QB's and La didnt produce any and we still had the better of it head to head.
Its not recruiting that matters, its evaluating the talent that counts and the Tigers do that better than anyone. Our coaches take a back seat to no one. And isnt it convenient when the schedule finally gets somewhat fair, it just so happens the playoff system goes in effect at the same time?

Absolutely no doubt. They can try and throw every advantage their way and it won't matter, Tigers will prevail and Les and company will have their/our way. Couldn't be happier with our football, baseball, track and basketball programs, Geaux Tigers

Hype does matter, hype gets Bama breaks and hype gets Bama recruits. We will beat Bama this year and we will handle them convincingly.

LSU will end up with some of the best recruits in the nation when this recruiting season is over, no doubt about it.
The best part: They want to be Tigers and represent the best damn football program in the country.
That's Loyalty.

Well written! I agree that LSU is 2nd to none in college football over the past decade in both entertainment and competiveness. It's been a joy watching LSU over the past 10 years (or every year for that matter) and knowing that they may not win every game but they will be IN every game. That's o.k. We'll get our just rewards for consistent excellence when all is said and done. We are the best (2nd best according to the record books) college team to watch and enjoy. Being on the field representing LSU (especially from in-state athletes) is a priviledge.

So good to hear this pointed out by someone else. The Georgia defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, worked for Saban. Saban likely got detailed notes.

So media perception is not reality? And that puzzles you? Have you been in a coma for 50 years?

Nuts
I havent been alive for 50 years. I was stating that some of my favorite media people are hyping this team every chance they get and arent mentioning any of this. Several of which normally do the eyeball reality check and have an objective point of view. Its not like LSU hasnt been a dominant force for 10+ years. Anyone with a half a brain can see that LSU has had some rotten luck and a stacked deck against them. I am surprised that this would not get mentioned from somebody somewhere at sometime. Even if it was just for shock value. We could use a little reality out there during recruiting season. It certainly wouldnt hurt.

99% of them couldn't tell you who we played last week. They don't know shite. They read what each other writes and just play off of each other. It's like a fricking message board. All their knowledge combined wouldn't buy you a cup of coffee at 7-11.

We are in agreement on that. But a select few actually know what the hell they are talking about and its them that I am referencing. Just to add on to the post. Its not like we had to replace our ALL SEC LT, our Heisman finalist, our starting RG and RT. And we were still right there. We had to really jumble our OL the week of Florida. We had very little chance of having any offensive success against that Defense in the swamp that week. But LSU had it figured out by the 2nd week after, we needed one more week. Great coaching job by the Tigers to get that all figured out so quickly. Who else couldve done that? And even after all that and breaking in a new QB we were right there to run the table after Florida. Dayum how about just a little love out there by somebody.

quote:A bit off-topic, but I do so want to see this happen. Like when Notre Dame first came to Tiger Stadium back in the day 1971 and there was no mercy - 28-8. Or in Archie Manning's senior year of 1970, when Archie Who's Ole Miss team was finally slaughtered in Death Valley 61-17, or when FSU came to town in 1982 and oranges flew on Tiger Turf and the 'Noles went down, 55-21.

Yeah. "Revenge is a dish best served cold..." Something like this, only this year in Bamaland, would be a really, really nice statement.

Something to consider is that LSU fans are LSU fans plain and simple. Bama has its share of die hard fans as well, but they have far more bandwagon fans than does LSU simply because of the program's history. Bama is currently at its peak of success and has nowhere left to go but down at this point. As soon as they have a 3 or more loss season, the hype will begin to fade and the bandwagoners will jump over to USC, ND, Miami, Michigan, or some other such program.

Bama's dominate OL is gone from last year, and next year, their dominate QB will be gone.
Your LSU Tigers should be the clear favorite in the SEC West next year.
This year looks like a toss up between Bama and LSU in November, but then again, Bama's cupcake shedule will likely win them another SEC West title.

when Saban was here, he frowned on players running their mouths and talking a lot of smack.
the two Cams in North LA are just letting loose today talking trash. Wonder How long does Nick let this last?

Sheet, when Saban was here, he frowned on players running their mouths and talking a lot of smack. Is he still like that? Reason I ask is because the two Cams in North LA are just letting loose today talking trash. How long does Nick let this last?

Fixed...I guess I need to pay more attention. Thought it funny that someone with the A-hole Nation symbol was saying they won't be the best ever.
