You do what you have to do to not let franchise players go to your biggest rivals. People can talk that 2-3 crap right now, but that number could be 2-6 before you know it if bama keeps getting some of the very best players out of Louisiana. And if Chris Hardeman can get a committable offer last year why the hell can't Sims get one in 2013?
ezrulz - be careful, people on this board don't want to look at forward thinking. They also don't want to admit anything could be a negative. Hey I am a positive thinking guy and I am positive that losing CRob is not a good thing. I also am positive that with or without CRob the Tigers will continue to win and be a winning program. That being said "if CRob does choose Bama" in the last 2 out of 3 years Bama/Satan has come into our state and taken the top ranked player in the state that is supposed to have grown up a Tiger fan. Before anyone says anything I realize LF is ranked #1 also depending on which service you look at, so let's just say 1a & 1b. My point being that is a problem, there is not a diversity here, this is one program coming into our state and taking and alarming amount of nationally ranked players out of our state for the past 5 years. Bama pipeline into Louisiana is truly going to be a problem for LSU going forward. What do you do to thwart it, you make offers to a Sims in order to keep CRob from going to Bama. That is how you do things in the business world and unfortunately college football is a big business now. You do what is necessary to keep your competition from gaining ground in your territory. You don't mind the minor losses but two #1's in 3 years that is a freaking problem.
Oh and before anyone tries the bullsh*t "nothing we could do, and Bama is going to get it's share" that is a load of crap. So if LSU had hired Landon's girlfriend to work in the athletic office, like Bama did. Does anyone really think that LC would be playing for Bama right now, especially how badly his Mom wanted him to play for LSU. If you do you really need to wake up, that is how the real world works. And anyone that really thinks that not offering Sims didn't hurt us tremendously with CRob, can also wake up that is not how the real world works. The only piece of the puzzle that I don't know how we could have countered is the Guice aspect of the recruiting. I can guarantee that he was a big influence on CRob, that one is a little harder to overcome.

There is something called ethics, Saban doesn't have any, and eventually he will pay the price.

I don't think his ethics have ever been called into question. It is more his business like attitude and no sensitivity toward the player. He runs it like a factory trying to maximize output. If something "or some player" is not working find away to get rid of it or the player. I guess you could call that ethics but it is more moral turpitude.

He was wearing thin after 5 years at LSU. He's held it off at Bama because he's kept winning, but have a subpar year-and he will, eventually-all the people he's rubbed the wrong way will surface.

LSU always had potential, Saban was just the first to bring it out on the field and get the ball rolling. That being said, I've strongly dislike that prick since the year before he left.

He doesn't need to commit any ethics violations personally-that's what the Red Elephant Club is for. And they are LOADED. They make TAF seem like the Little Sisters of the Poor. You gotta pay to play.

The kid seems to be enamored with Bama and has been for a while.
Just as certain people are drawn to certain things in life theres not much you can do to change that.
So now because LSU will probably miss out on a recruit they are now going to lose 3 straight games to Bama and head into a downward spiral because of 1 recruit?
I mean look at the statements some of you are making, they are beyond stupid.
The kid hasnt even stepped on the field yet and he has doomed LSU?
Take a step back.......

They don't want to hear the truth, they want to have a meltdown. They ignore the fact that we are bringing in 3 OOS 5 stars and likely the best player in what 4 or 5 other states? 40% of our last few classes have been OOS players but for some reason we're supposed to never lose an instate player.

Myles Garret will be at the LSU-TCU game FWIW...Is it because of us or does he have interest in TCU?
Sorry for the hijack.

Both, but he has serious interest for LSU. He's one who could be a signing day surprise. It won't be easy to get him out of Texas, but it's possible.

Actually LSU and Alabama are not that far apart in overall revenue in the athletic department. Keep your eye on the Aggies, they are closing in fast on LSU, Alabama and Florida.

Bama spends twice as much as LSU on recruiting.

LSU needs to change that imo. That is on leadership

And here we go....you just opened the door for all the Miles bashers to come on and say the reason we did not get CRob is because of Miles.

We seem to get much more for the amount we pay then...don't we?
Not to mention all the new chargers rolling around T-Town.
