I don't know what the frick is going on in that trailer but I do know that satellites do not orbit in proximity that close to each other. And I do know that after that initial collision, everyone should be dead and riddled with holes from tiny pieces of debris

Bingo.

If Michael Bay had done this movie - As in the same final product, just with his name as the director rather than Cauron's - then you know the response would not be the same and it would get massive criticism.

Don't trust critics folks. You want to know how a movie is, go see it. If you are a penny pincher, then ask a close friend. Hell read up on what the director was going for and decide from there. If you know what they were going for then chances are you'll know if you like it before you even see it.
