you do realize that usc was #1 in both polls after the regular season. the coaches poll was contractually obligated to vote sugar bowl winner #1. AP wasnt under such obligations.

Of course. But having the #2-#3 match up winner jump #1 in the AP Poll was not that far fetched of an idea going into the game.

AP didn't do anything incorrect either, other than vote a way LSU fans disagreed with.
