Fan outlook/attitude: TCU and Clemson games

I feel pretty much the same going into the TCU game as I did the Clemson game, although I think Clemson was a better team pound for pound than TCU will be. I was discussing this IRL and some LSU fans seem to agree. That concerns me a bit because I don't enjoy bad surprises or feeling like a rube, but I think it will be different this time.
I figured at the end of last year, the team would use that month to shake whatever it was that was bothering them at the end of the season, regroup and dominate like '05-10 (sans 2009 mudfest which was just a joke). It looked that way at first, especially after that WR got injured, and we know the rest of the story.
Going into TCU, I think LSU will have something to prove, be more motivated, obviously a new team with some inexperienced but talented guys. TCU will compete, they have a quality/winning/prideful program, but will be worn down on both sides by middle of the 3rd. I picture a combo of other early season OOC beatdowns like Oregon/Washington games with some glimpses of '07 Virginia Tech and a good old fashioning arse kicking. I see '10 UNC as an anomaly, as I do Clemson and 1/9.
I sure hope I'm right. History of little consequence, but LSU has not lost a regular season OOC games since 2002. It ain't happening here. Through Les' tenure, LSU for the most part had been lights out in bowl games and vs. OOC teams--you could bet the house on it. That's changed a bit lately, but I do think order will be restored beginning 8/31.

Not me. One was meaningless. One is important.

I don't know how anyone could possibly feel the same going into this game as the Clemson game. This is the season opener to a season in which LSU is off a lot of people's radars and there are lots of new faces trying to make names for themselves. The Clemson game was a dissappoiting and a bit of a meaningless bowl game in a season in which the highest number of underclassman in the history of college football were going to declare early for the NFL draft.

Agreed. Supposed to beat TCU. Don't have much to gain except for pride but have a lot to lose

You're correct, but it's much easier to say it now that we know the result of the game, player's comments, the draft, etc. Did anyone see Clemson competing like they did and winning?
The '05, '06, '08, '10 bowl games were meaningless too, but it didn't stop LSU from dominating. I thought it would go that way.

I'm always concerned about injuries -- every team needs good karma there -- and special teams.
This team has the talent to win 14.......including 2 wins against Bama, if necessary.
If Cam is not a sham, LSU will be fine.
Can't wait to watch this season unfold. I'm confident it won't unravel.

It was easy to say that the bowl game was a dissappointment and meaningless before the game. I'm sure everyone involved would have much rather gone to the Cotton Bowl. Players would have likely been more motivated to play in that bowl game.

Not winning, but competing? Sure. They have a high powered offense and our defense had shown signs of being tired/unmotivated after the Bama game.
The other bowl games you mentioned: 06 was a BCS Bowl - I wouldnt really call that meaningless. Players are going to be motivated to play in a major BCS bowl. The fans can call it meaningless because it isn't the national Championship all they want, but a bowl like that isn't meaningless to the team that got there.
10 was the Cotton Bowl which is pretty close to a BCS Bowl. The venue is badass, it's played after Jan 1. Big difference for game like that compared to the Chick fil a Bowl.

I really believe that we will be better in spite of losing alot of those players. Experience is a great thing, but I also believe that when you have been waiting for your shot, you do everything possible to prove you're worthy. You are hungrier and want it more. I think we lacked a little WANT last year.

I disagree. I'm friggin pumped and it seems like most others are as well. There was already a cloud over last season by this time - with TM and Faulk and the other impactful injuries we sustained in fall practice. When clemson rolled around players and fans were ready to get out of the season and move on - I think.
The attitude seems very high this year. The future is extremely bright. I, for one, can't wait!!!

Exactly. One was a game that signified a "failure of a season", the other is the dawn and platform of a new season.

I'm pumped too, don't get me wrong, more than Clemson, but I'm talking about how I feel the game will go.
Either way, LSU rolls.

I am afraid the Horn Frogs will experience the wrath of LSU's embarrassing loss to Clemson The Kill
