A call-up occurs when a player is signed by an NBA team. An NBA team is allowed to sign any D-League player as long as they are eligible to play in the NBA under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). For the time being the primary benefit of DLeauge ownership is access/control and having a place to develop coaching and front office talent. Running the Toros was one of the biggest things on Demps' resume. Demps himself said that he signed Squeaky because he helped him get the NO GM job.

I think they will make the DLeague more useful in the next CBA. But the camera technology was $100k per team, DLeague teams cost $5 million per year IIRC. I can't find where I read that, and I don't think it's all loss, but it's a much more significant investment than the camera technology.
