The checkering was a bit rough so I used a bicycle tube to make it more comfortable.
Check out Talon Grips. I'm a huge fan of them. It made my Kahr CM9 much more shootable without tearing up my hands. The Talon Grips are also lower profile so they won't feel as bulky as the bike tube.
Talon Grips for Kahr
And as for the mag issue, like Rusty said, a full magazine may take some effort to lock in place. After you break in the mag spring a bit, it may not be an issue. But there's really no telling. Just shoot the hell out of it to break all the springs in.
And congrats on getting a great CC gun. I love my Kahr CM9 even after the 1000s of rounds I've sent down the tube.

EDIT: Noticed you said the mag was empty.
Shoot it at the range a bit with the new mag and load the mag fully every time. It should break in the spring a bit.
It also wouldn't hurt to leave it fully loaded when storing it.

This is the second gun I've bought from your initial recommendation (which lead to further research). Feeling creeped out yet?
