Yours is a mistake coaches make because, on paper, it seems to improve their odds.

In those games, it would have improved the odds. Not a mistake.

Cannot agree at all. The defense gave up 445 yards, with nearly equal amounts given up each half.

The only time it played great was the 3rd quarter. Clemson's 2nd drive was 11 plays for 75 yards. They added a 12 play drive, two 8 play drives and a 6 play drive - IN THE FIRST HALF. Don't give me that dog-tired bull. They had a month to get ready for this game, and they mailed it in.

All I'm saying is it's unfair to blame the loss on the offense. Yes, the offense played terrible, but the defense was dog crap most of the game as well.

He loves to rely on John Chavis. In reality, you just can't lean on your defense every single game. At some point, the defense is going to have a subpar game. It's times like the Chick Fila Bowl that LSU offense should have carried the load. Unfortunately, our offensive philosophy is to punt it farther that the other team punts and win the field postion battle.

I still haven't figured out why John Chavis hasn't walked down the hall and grabbed the offensive coaches by the throats and said, "Can you please just try to move the ball a little bit? Score a few points on your own every now and then."

Of course, by offensive coaches, I mean the guy that decides to play it conservative, let the defense and special teams be great, and then win the game in the 4th quarter.

And by conservative, I mean telegraph all of our 9 plays that we run by using formations and personnel to let the defense know what play is coming.

I"m still pissed how we gave the game away with poor coaching! I still cannot believe we lost to Clemson.

Bingo. The players said it themselves, as well as cam, that the offense was predictable.

Benching Hill in the bowl game for the 4th quarter had to be one of the most head scratching decisions of the miles era

Right up there with benching Scott against Kentucky in 2007

no one should blame the D for giving up too many yards

LSU had bout 220 yds of O for the game. No one sane is going to claim they did their job.

After 3 quarters, Clemson had bout 5 mins more in TOP and LSU had a 24-13 lead. The score looked good for us and the TOP, while in Clemson's favor, wasn't anything terribly off. imo

In the 4th, the LSU TEAM couldn't do anything on either O or D.

My only point in this thread was to say I couldn't label the LSU D, maybe pass D, I watched in the game as "great".

To carry that a tad further, I thought the LSU pass D, on the whole, was very disappointing much of the last 4 to 5 games.

I watched it once at the time, heavily intoxicated for the second half. However, I've read enough to comment, IMO.

For those of you that also watched the Broncos/Ravens playoff game, the flow had a very similar feel. It never seemed like LSU was going to actually lose, but couldn't close the door.

I don' buy that LSU didn't try or care. That's loser talk and it was not evidenced. Maybe Clemson had more motivation, but so what. The O was terrible and we got no pressure on Boyd in the second half. Much like the Bama game, we could not produce when it counted. Couldn't get simple yardage to extend drives and gave up huge backbreaking acres of field on D at the worst possible time.

Clemson was a good team, but they're still Clemson. The stink will need to be removed.

That's Les Miles offensive philosophy, not 'ours'. But I know what you mean and agree wholeheartedly, I've been saying this for 5 years.

And that same thing will happen again, this year, unless Les Miles and his coaches can get the team to see a bigger picture and not have a "NC or bust" mentality...with the win it all culture that we currently live in. (young people, mainly). If we win 10 or 11 games and go to the Sugar Bowl or SECC and play well, I will be ecstatic. If we make the NC, great, but if we don't and PLAY WELL and compete that's just fine too.

I just want to see the team play good football and win the games they are supposed to win, and get a good bowl game and be HAPPY to be there and be an LSU Tiger. This boom or bust philosophy is contributing to the 'post Bama' downfall that we have seen in recent years.

The three passes in a row before Clemson's final drive were bad decisions. They would've worked if executed properly, but that drive needed to eat up clock and their timeouts. The clock kept stopping and they didn't have to use a timeout..

This in hindsight.
The OC/miles calls a perfect play and catches Clemson with their pants down and Mett throws a 5 yard out into the dirt. Clemson had been loading up on the run and it was a perfect play call and Mett simply didn't execute a throw that my 7 year old can make.
Posters bitched at Miles for running the ball against Bama and they bitched about throwing the ball against Clemson.

Giving up 450 yards of offense and letting a 4th and 17 conversion IS NOT PLAYING GREAT. I guess the defense played great in comparison to the offense but worse defenses held Clemson to less yards.

You can certainly blame them for giving up a 4&17 first down
