Has the Tiger Rant always been full of miserable people?

Not trolling here, just have never seen anything like this anywhere else.
Guys come in here asking legitimate questions and get completely trashed for 2 or more pages before someone begrudgingly provides a smart-assed answer.
Where did this culture start? I know LSU fans (and southern folks in general) are highly opinionated, but no one is nearly this miserable on game days in Tiger Stadium.
Does it have something to do with the word "Rant" in the name of the board?
It is considered "cool" to be an e-a$$hole?
Was it like this from the start?

I think that's part of it. But in general, people who disagree with the subject line are the first to click and want to respond. Then, they feel the need to sound badass in the process.

It's just the way it is but imo the OT lounge is way worse.

Until the sunshine pumpers are kept in line this will always be the case. There is no room for individual thought or opinions without being characterized as a troll.

The funny part is they will trash the op, trash the thread subject. It makes you wonder why they even opened the thread to begin with.

You have to understand that the Rant is a great equalizer for inadequate little jerks to stand and argue their points with the cyber bullies of the SEC. Hence, the obscene and silly responses to many legitimate questions. You've got a 15-year-old virgin with bad acne able to debate football with Joe Jock..without getting slapped around. That pretty much characterizes most 'free' boards, so recognize the Rant for what it is...about 80 percent BS and the rest pretty decent intel on LSU.

Here's my deal. I know that I possess no great technical understanding of the game. I played the game, have studied it and remain a fan on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but when I attend games with my coaching friends I find out just how much I don't know about the game. I get most irritated by fans who "don't know that they don't know." This board and any football board has a good number of those kinds of fans. There are certain Louisiana high school football forums that I just quit reading becuase of this issue.

Makes sense. This is the nationally recognized spot to get the inner scoop on LSU sports, and LSU news in general. Despite the constant inter-fanbase bickering, some of the squabbles can be downright humorous.

Oh bullshite. You don't even stay on topic. You just post some smartass quip trying to get a response. That's the definition of a troll.
There are certain posters that refuse to say anything positive because it might come across as them saying something positive about Miles. Those people turn this board to shite.

The rant has taught me that a lot of people will whine and bitch about having consistent 10+ win seasons.

There is a ton of legitimate debate on this board from varying points of view, granted there are newbies who don't phrase a question properly, and unfairly get hammered. However, most of the posts that get trashed are just the same-old "I hate Miles", "JJ/JL", "Saban's god" rhetorical questions/troll threads. They get what they deserve.

It has a lot to do with the ability to sit behind a keyboard and spurt every little thought process in their minds.
Internet bad asses would never dare act the same IRL.
