The aspect of this that isn't getting enough attention is that Cooper was drunk. I'm sure he doesn't want to focus on that because then it will seem like he's making excuses, and not taking responsibility for what he said, and he most likely will end up looking worse. That would also give the media another angle to attack him. But it is very relevant to this incident.

A lot of people are saying stuff like, "Now we see his true colors," or something to that effect. I just don't think that's accurate. Alcohol can make people do or say things OUT of character. Sometimes being drunk can reduce inhibition and make people be more truthful, but sometimes it just makes people say dumb things that they would not otherwise say.
