I used them last summer. It's an improvement over nothing, but I still had some weeds. For me, I didn't think it was worth the money.

I've always been told to just water the shite out of sod. It'll take eventually.
My wife is nagging me about cancelling trugreen. She doesn't see the benefits. Frankly, other than them getting the chinch bugs out, I don't either.

What kind of sod? Where are the problem spots?

After using it for years my parents Dalmation went into liver failure ver prematurely in her life. The vets suspected it was due to exposure to the lawn chemicals. Not a big fan of the stuff

I have a 2.5 acre lawn in Texas, and I've used them in the past for pre and post emergent herbicide application, and occasional fertilizer. I normally apply granules myself.
They've done good work at a fair price. However, I use their "Commercial Services" group, not the standard residential side of their business.

I used Tru Green years ago and my lawn ended up looking worse than my neighbors who used nothing.
YMMV

SA is a pretty tough grass to grow in and keep up. Sounds like youve got the watering down, the shade is a killer on SA though.
Chinch bugs are more prevalent in the Southeast, but are known to kill the roots of SA. You might grab some sevin dust and put it out one evening. Might surprise you whats laying in your yard the next day.
