I have never shot this ammo before. Does anybody know if it is worth a damn for target practice?
Tula Ammo 45 APC 230gr FMJ
Thanks in advance.

I've used Tula 9mm and had no issues...would buy again.

What issues did you have with them?
Are they dirty? Discharge/ejection failures?
I can live with dirty, a gun can be kept clean. However, I certainly will not tolerate discharge/ejection failures.

it goes bang when you pull the trigger but it is dirty. I have never had any issues with Tula.

I said this exact same thing yesterday.
If I pull the trigger and the round goes boom without short stroking my gun, it's "good" target ammo. Target ammo is just that - target ammo. Shoot anything your gun will run.
Be sure to run a few (maybe 3-5) rounds of your self defense hollow point ammo also to make sure it runs.
EDIT: It's 45 ACP by the way. ACP stands for "automatic colt pistol."

Can't reload it. Plus the bullet material has been proven to degrade barrels and decrease barrel life. Unless Tula is using different materials in the bullet itself I would stay away.
eta: If you shoot thousands of rounds a year, worry. If not, don't worry about it and shoot it.

Good points. Didn't think of this.
I guess the main thing is that cheap steel-cased ammo may have other cheap components in it, like hard jackets.
I would shoot them but I wouldn't exclusively shoot them. Spend most of your money on brass and the rest on steel if it's all you can find.

Wrong, its APC because it blows up Armored Personnel Carriers.

They won't allow it at my local range.

Probably because they pick up all the brass and dont want to pick out steal cases.

I doubt this guy reloads. He shouldn't worry about decreasing barrel life no matter how much he shoots ,IMHO. The money you save shooting steel cased will more than make up for the cost of a new barrel.

Nope, never reload. I just look at the press in awe and wonder.
And the rest of your post is ignorant. At my high point in shooting I was going through roughly 2500 rounds of 45acp per month just in practice.
On competition guns barrels and barrel fittings aren't cheap and the gunsmith typically doesn't get the gun back to you in less than a couple months, so figure in down time on a comp pistol in the equation as well.
The only way to save when shooting is to reload.

You honestly thought I was talking about you and not the guy asking the question? Really?
What reason would I have to doubt that you reload?

Yes, forgive me. No really internet savvy.

If you shoot steel cased ammo, your extractor will wear out sooner. Brass cases are a softer metal that will take most of the abuse from metal to metal contact. When using steel case, you have steel on steel where the case meets the gun.
A 1911 extractor only costs $15-30, so no big deal.
Your other problem is barrel wear.

I asked Wolf about something related to this this by email some time ago. They told me their bimetal/copper washed jackets and laquered steel cases will accelerate chamber and bbl wear, even in chrome lined bbls and chambers, compared to brass cases and copper jackets.

Even if they would allow it at my ranges (which they don't) I am a ammo snob and wouldn't show that out of my guns unless I was forced to.

No worries. I went through the same questions about whether I should shoot steel-cased ammo as the OP. Someone pointed out to me that saving $100 per 1000 rounds can pay for a new barrel pretty quickly.
I will eventually get into reloading, but for now, I pretty much buy the cheapest stuff that works.

Just a typo. My bad. I know that typos aren't allowed on TD...damn these human fingers.
