Guilty or not, his brick is front and center walking up to the trophy room. Probably not the last thing you want recruits and their parents seeing before they enter the building, especially given the recent image problem we have.
Bingo. It's purely an image thing, the association between he and the University creates a perception, right or wrong.

they haven't found the gun yet, right? lots of circumstantial evidence with conflicting reports...gonna be hard to put the guy in jail on anything major without the gun
Nope. They have motive, opportunity, and a ton of corroborating evidence.

He was a bad representative before the murder trial. Still, I think it's premature.

Not only that, but it could also be a preliminary strike, so to speak, so people can't start taking pictures with it or desecrating it or shite like that.
I still think it's premature, but I get it.

Supposed to be innocent until proven guilty.
I have no problem with this.

This is kind of messed up but I understand why UF did it. I'd probably make the same call if it were mine to make.
Even if Hernandez beats this by some miracle, UFs name is being dragged through the mud as this story moves along.

So what if he's found innocent? What if he was framed or something? Do they just act like nothing happened and put all this stuff back or do they continue to shun him? I mean, OJ Simpson is in the Hall of Fame..

So what if he's found innocent?
But UF should do what what they see as appropriate for protecting their brand.

They no longer edit him out of their newer DVD releases actually.

Well OJ was already in the Hall of Fame so the league couldnt passive aggressivly do anything about it
Hernandez would be like "awh im a free man and innocent i want another shot at the NFL" and the owners would be like "brah, we collude all the damn time, and we already agreed to not sign your arse"

It's a slippery slope to start shunning everyone who's accused of something. See the Duke University lacrosse team.

Of course it's their decision. I'm not saying otherwise. I'm just saying I disagree with the decision they've made.
SORRY FOR BEING AMERICAN AS frick.

If he's innocent then I would imagine they would assess the situation at that point. Keep in mind that he could be innocent in a court of law, but the court of public opinion might see things differently.

Well, in fairness, the NFL HOF doesn't have to worry about impressing the parents of 17-18 yo kids.

Does anyone know if OJ Simpson is celebrated at USC?

I think with OJ it's a little different. You can make the argument that OJ was pretty much all around awesome as a player and celebrity up until his arrest in 94, where it seems he just went (and stayed) batshit insane. So it might be easier for USC fans to celebrate "who he was" (maybe a USC fan will comment on this soon).
You really can't do that with Hernandez becuase he's generally been trouble from day one.

Didn't the Patriots cut him and remove his name from everything the day after he was arrested? Didnt the nfl remove his profile from their website? Didnt EA Sports remove him from their football game? Didnt the Pats encourage all fans to turn in his jersey for someone else's?

It was nothing that they were embarrassed about enough to condemn him before this. Both guys were all world talents in college who probably murdered someone after college.

Yeah, Hernandez never played Nordberg in any movies.
