We just spotted hogs (first time) on our deer lease. I get my AR 15 this week. What is a good load for hogs with this gun. I have other guns that will work but I want to try the AR.

If there is only one head shoot it
if there are many shoot center of body just behind the shoulder. They will run off and die hours to days later.

try some 75gr HP's. What is the barrel twist rate?

So just shoot to mortally wound. Unless you want the meat.

Yep, they are like roaches and all need to die.
Want meat, make a head shot. the lack of meat destruction and lack of organ contaminate in the meat give you a bit more time to process.

He really does, I cant even imagine when they do the hog round up and get like 100 of those pigs. Really puts it in perspective.
ETA: As far as a 223 round, Winchester has a 64 gr bullet that is supposed to be good. And then any Barnes triple shock, for a 223 Id stay above 62 gr if the gun has the right twist rate. I wouldnt shoot any smaller gr than a 62 though.

Best load out of an AR15 for hogs is 220gr .300BLK

I have those winchesters in .223 for my AR. The "razorback" round. It's very effective, but its not the Hammer of the Gods that a well placed high velocity .30 caliber bullet can be.
Regardless of caliber or bullet choice, kill every hog you can see. If it gets dark, use night vision. The only reason to stop shooting pigs is if you run out of ammo.
