Hey OB, I'm going to a birthday party that will be at Elmer's Island. I'm told there's some areas around it where you can catch fish.

The only issue - I haven't been fishing down there since I was 12 so I've forgotten salt/brackish water technique and bait.

What I remember is popper corks with carolina rigs. Sometimes using croakers. Sometimes shrimp. Is that still good? I can remember gray plastic grubs being my go-to.

Anyway, if my memory is right the next question is what's a good bait shop down there?

Carolina rigs or under a cork. Ive had good results lately with croakers and topwater plugs. Shrimpmstill work too.

Coastal bait shop is on your left just before the elmers island turnoff. Its the first building when the camps start on your left side. Nice folks.

Look at the July issue of Louisiana Sportsman Magazine at the article on page 40. That guy has a rig that is lights out better than any Carolina rig. Can go from bottom to cork fish in less than a snap. It works unbelievably well.

DOA or Vodoo Shrimp under a popping cork, next best thing to live bait. And watch for sharks, they are lurking.
