I don't know one firearm instructor that thinks the FA is useless but okay. Whatever this guy says is true.

My thing is that you might never need it but it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Not to mention that you can buy an Ar-15 with the FA and dust jacket for nearly the same price as without.

While they might not think it is "useless", Ive never taken a class or had any training what so ever outside of the military that even mentioned or advocated the use of the forward assist. The military is the only place Ive seen it taught or used.

That being said, my gun has it. I dont think Ive ever used it. If I were buying a rifle for a range toy, it would not even be something I thought about when discussing pros/cons for purchasing.
