I didn't say he was a bust. As far as his FG % goes, I haven't looked it up, but as I stated with the redzone stats, LSU tries a TON of short to medium length FGs which of course does tend to drive up your success rate. I don't remember Alleman being very good on long FGs.

Alleman was clutch in 2011.

JUNIOR SEASON (2011)Ranked first in the SEC and second nationally in field goal percentage at .889 (16-of-18) ... Ranked fourth in the SEC in scoring with 110 points, the fourth-largest total in LSU single season history ... Connected on 62-of-63 point-after attempts with only miss coming following a bobbled snap on his first attempt of the year against Oregon ... Earned honorable mention All-America recognition by Sports Illustrated as well as second-team All-SEC honors by the Associated Press and the SEC Coaches ... Earned Lou Groza Star of the Week recognition after he nailed all three of his field goal attempts, including the game-winning 25-yarder in overtime, at Alabama ... Named one of three Lou Groza Stars of the Week nationally after an outstanding game against Mississippi State as he finished a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals (21, 42, 41, 29) and was 1-for-1 on extra points ... The four field goals at Mississippi State ranked as the second-most field goals in a game in school history

Alleman Bio

2012 might have been disappoiting by 2011 standards, but we might not have won the SEC without him in 2011.He gave all he had for LSU.

Good post and I think you just defined my "disappointment. He DID have a great 2011 except for being dislodged at the kickoff guy, but FGs, yeah! But the problem is he didn't follow it up with as good of a 2012. Couple the 2012 with the short kickoffs in 2011 which were really, really bad in fact, and that is what I'm talking about.

I believe I heard he had some sort of injury in 2011 that explained his kickoff distance but I remember game after game where everybody team I was watching on TV was kicking down to the 5 and to the goal line, etc. LSU until they switched to Hairston was kicking down to the 10...the 12...the 14 and it wasn't a strategic move to kick the ball short. That stuck in my mind along with 2012 being inconsistent some.

"Converted 21-of-29 field goals" {in 2012) and "Kicked career-long field goal of 49 yards in win over Arkansas"

I didn't expect a 16 out of 18 again but 21 of 29 is a far cry from that. Also, I never realized he never kicked a 50 yard FG at LSU.
