You can go on a campus if it stays in your vehicle. At least in Louisiana. Any restricted firearm facility/campus must provide a place for you to store your firearm if you are not allowed to have it in your vehicle.

There's a conflict of policy vs. law in this situation. You may be within the law to leave it loaded in your vehicle but you would risk expulsion.
As for non-firearm free zones, yes it is legal, open or concealed in your vehicle.
