Now, if this doesn't make it....the area is done. I don't live in the area, but i would hate to see it for those good people that do.
This is very true. Sad, but very true. My parents still live on the course and have lived there for the past 15 years. The area around the club and course is still a good area. Its the area on the other side of Florida blvd and down Old Hammond that has the issues. The area by the course is still a good place because of the course. If the course goes, the good people living near it will go too. Not all, but some. And thats all it will take. I know my parents have already said in the past if the course goes, they will look to move else where. Its sad because its such an old course and historic. My grandfather played there when he was younger and was 1 of the 1st presidents of the club.
Ill pass this info on to my parents and all the people we know in the area. Sure they already know about it, but just to make sure ill let them know what Ive heard. Im sure they will get involved. Good Luck
O and what I quoted is what you said that sold me. Its not just about golf. Its about keeping an historic area of Baton Rouge still a solid place to live and raise a family, which IMO, is more important than golf. Pretty much every old family in Baton Rouge has some connection or childhood memories to the area or to SFCC. Would be sad to see a place with all that history and those memories destroyed...

This thing will cash flow well, assuming we get to our commitment level.

What does the time table look like for this to be completed?

Why would anyone pay $6000 plus $3000 annually? And how would the club get 400 members when it couldn't even get 150 with much cheaper memberships.
UC is cheaper than this and has much better practice facilities, pool, tennis, etc.

I know the opportunity isn't for everyone. But I do think there will be some interest in it. You say UC is cheaper but you won't own part of UC for the same cost. I'm willing to listen to the business plan that BP has set forth. If all debt is gone and the property is owned free and clear it could be profitable for the owners, all 400 of them.

Exactly
It's not an initiation fee, it's more of a stake
And people might be willing to pay more for exclusivity as opposed to the public/private model

I understand your concerns. The UC is an awesome place. But it is not Cheaper. There is a 6k initiation fee right now. That's not stock, but a fee. Then the monthly dues are around 340 or 350. That dues not include carts. That's another $150 or so. I can't remember that exact amount. Sherwood is $6k to buy your share of the club and $275 a month to be a member. That included unlimited range, carts, and green fees.
When the club closed it had just under 200 members. But, that was members of a public golf course. In my opinion there is much more value to belonging to a completely private club.
Please don't think I'm bashing UC, because I'm not at all. It's a great place with great members and great management. I think BR can support both.

Time is short my brother. 60 days is realistic.

Junior Exec is no where near that.
I really hope y'all succeed but trying to get 400 members on an old-style course that needs some upgrades in a neighborhood that is really stagnant and aging is an uphill battle.

Who is going to run the course? At 400 people it sounds like a lot of Indians and no chiefs?

Not exactly, just kind of interested in how it all pans out
I've been considering joining greystone since its so close to my house

Just like any other member owned club, there will be a board elected by the owners. They will oversee a general manager.

Thanks for the well wishes. I hope we succeed also! It's certainly an uphill battle. It's not the first battle I've fought!
We are making progress with the commitments. I'm hopeful more will follow.

I took several lessons from BP when I lived in BR.
Good dude, hope it works out.
They should try a JR membership drive and hook,up with couple local hs for golf teams.
