Wow how soon we forget, we didn't lose Lacy to Bama we gave him to Bama. Lacy was LSU all the way but the coaches didn't think he would qualify so they didn't pursue him and he had one of those non-committable offers kind of like Christine Michael. if Lacy would have had a committable offer he would have been wearing purple & gold.
We should have kept him in-state IMO. Lacy was a beast at Bama and was => any back we have had in the past 3 years...

What? Are you serious? A WR can change the game in a heartbeat with a single play. A DT OR DE can make a game changing play. Almost every position on the field has the potential to make a game changing play in a close game not just a QB. A Safety for example can make a game changing hit or int. Collins is not marginally better than Thompsen believe me but if that helps soothe your butt from losing him then so be it!

1. What in the world makes you think Collins will be a B-? The dude was a special teams missile last year for them, arguably the top non return/kicker special teams player in the nation [quote]last year. The kid is incredible and will be insane in their system. He'll be better than Barron when he leaves.
2. That's a nice list belittling the LA players who have gone to Alabama. Do you by any chance have a list of AL players LSU has stolen from Saban and a grade on them? O wait, not much of a list? Has LSU taken a single player from AL that Saban wanted? Ever?
Sorry, but I have this lasting impression of L Collins in the AA bowl in SA where he "tried" to tackle a guy near the sidelines, and he bounced off like a rubber ball. The RB kept running albeit he stepped out of bounds and Collins was eating artificial turf. Hit a guy from the blind side and YOU are the one getting the worst of it? Hope the US doesn't have "missiles" like that guy.
As far as an Alabama player that midget Nicky wanted, he certainly pursued Z Alexander didn't he? And whether LSU recruits in Alabama like Alabama recruits in LA is irrelevant. I'm not one like apparently YOU are that obsesses about any LA player going to the midget. I'm still about him taking Falkins last year, a guy who isn't even a division 1-A caliber player. Anyway, hate to keep you from kissing the midget's arse...please continue.

Uh, how is a WR going to change the game in a heartbeat without the QB being able to get him the ball to begin with? Are you talking an end around? I do agree with a lot of your post but clearly QB is by far the most important position on a football team...not even close. As far as Collins vs Thompson or anyone else, sorry, but the votes aren't in yet. Please refrain from putting L Collins in the college football hall of fame until he actually is a position player starter and looks good being one.
I will give H Town Tiger an example of a safety play that actually ended up being the deciding play in the game and couldn't have been made by anyone else...the Eric Reid play vs Alabama in 2011 where he left his own man in clearly a busted coverage by another LSU player and took away the halfback pass to the TE around the LSU goal line. Safeties are becoming more important BUT they have to cover too. Just because Collins or Reid can hit someone does NOT make them a great safety. IF you can't cover the 3rd or 4th guy on a pass pattern, you aren't a great safety. Let's see how Collins and Thompson and other safeties in the SEC do pass coverage before proclaiming them great safeties, OK?

Didn't you just rate him a B-?

Alabama also had a better passing attack which opened up running lanes.
..oh and not to mention the best offensive line in college football.
Those things have no affect on a RBs abilities

Just a heads up...LSU coaches will be upset that they didn't offer Falkins before his timne is up at Bama, he is an animal came in as an EE made at least 1 older more experienced WR on the roster expendable & has just basically shown out the whole time in Tuscaloosa had a really good Aday game for a TF who just arrived on campus as well
just thought I'd let you know

Fwiw, DaQuille Williams made Collins look silly head to head in District play a couple years ago.
Posted on 7/8/13 at 9:33 am to BuccWildBammer
So you expect him to be a #1 or #2 WR?
No, you don't. LSU coaches will be able to sleep. It's not like he's Kenny Bell.

I PREDICTED a B- which is my best GUESS! You understand a "prediction" could be exactly right, too low, or too high in this case right? The main action I saw him in was the AA game where he looked bad on that tackle and intercepted a pass but he didn't even have to move. The pass was overthrown about 10 yards up the field and it landed right in his hands...to be fair to him, he CAUGHT IT! I have seen a bunch of safeties drop that ball which is why they aren't WRers.

Thanks but no thanks on Falkins. I saw about 10 minutes of "highlight video" on him out of HS, and the guy is NOT a take at division 1-A. He and Chuck Baker were overrated and he should have ended up at Southern like Baker. Falkins is neither quick nor fast and although he has a good body and can leap and catch well, how is he going to separate from DBS in the SEC? Answer is...he won't.

as a 3* TF coming in as maybe the #4 WR that is huge at Bama
He is taller than Bell & a speed guy as well
He should have some significant PT this year in back-up and spread sets etc
He's a lot better than his ranking was that's all I was saying

Even if he turns out to be as good as you are claiming, I don't think WR will be a problem for LSU over his tenure.

Great post VT and what I have been saying. Comparing Lacy vs Hill (LSU), Lacy average 1 yard per carry more and Hill averaged .5 yards more on pass receptions. Put Lacy behind an average SEC line like LSU's has been lately and Lacy doesn't average what Hill averaged. Plus, we all know that the defenses have been stacking the LOS vs LSU for years because they are daring LSU to show them a consistent passing game. Once again, out of the last 4 backs of note at Alabama, Lacy is #4. Not as good as Ingram was at Alabama, not as good as Richardson, not as good as Yeldon will be.

He would've done the same at LSU maybe even be higher since LSU's depth at WR isn't what Bama's is
Look in practices at Aday he looked plenty fast enough to me, got good seperation & was taught the little things really well & knows how to use his length etc
He good...LSU coaches will be upset they didn't offer before his career is over

They shouldn't and won't, no matter what he turns out to be.

Taller yes, "speed guy" no way!! Unless he has gained a lot of speed since his highlights, which BTW are GOOD plays right, speed is NOT his forte. Ne is neither fast nor quick! He is a possession receiver just like Chuck Baker is. That is why I would NOT have offered Falkins as LSU did NOT and I would NOT have offered Baker which LSU did but fortunately ended up at Southern after LSU and Baker parted ways.
