Any OB'ers in Baton Rouge want to give me some good fishing spots in this area. I'll be with my son who is 5. I have a kayak so keep that in mind.
Thanks in advance. I'll post a report if we catch anything.

I don't know about 5 but TigerDeacon Jr. (3 1/2) is usually good for about 5 minutes of fishing. After he is "caught all the fish", he is done.

My point is that I wouldn't make a lot of work out of the first trip.

Just like training a dog

Leave when he is still wanting more and be more concerned about the kid having fun than catching anything.

I've been taking my 5 year old fishing in the boat a fair amount here lately. He enjoys it. But nowhere near as much as when I took him to a stock pond the other day. He ripped lips for hours. I would recommend one of those for now. You'll spend a lot less time in trees too.
