You said Farley was "headed for mediocrity" like the rest of the HM Crew. There isn't a person I know (or that you know) that wouldn't trade ACTUAL mediocrity for the $892 gazillion dollars that Spade or James has/will have.
Their income is irrelevant to me. What is relevant to me is the quality of their product. The only thing they care about is inflating the budget as much as possible, getting as much product placements as possible to make even a box office bomb profitable, and put in generic fart and kick-in-the-nuts jokes to film as possible so the popcorn eating dumbasses will see it. Anyone can write a Happy Madison film.

What makes you so high and mighty that you think you can talk down to people who enjoy Kevin James movies?

Why is it that I loved King of Queens but have grown to hate him now thanks to his movies?
Posted on 7/3/13 at 3:35 pm to JabarkusRussell
Does any movie evoke more snobbery than Grown Ups?? I'm not afraid to say that I enjoyed the movie and I will see Grown Ups 2 whether most of you agree or not.

Yeah, talking with your arse cheeks is comedy gold. Congrats Jim.

You seem mad.

Because it's the same joke over and over and over: he's fat and clumsy. That's the punchline. I'd say that Hitch is a step up, and Here Comes the Boom wasn't particularly terrible, but he's had a pretty terrible track record.
And I guess what makes me so high and mighty about it is I have better taste than that.

Again. You think a good comedic actor is one who spreads his arse cheeks and speaks with them.
You are retarded if you think that you can be condescending about a comedy actor having one punch line when comparing them to Ace Ventura over here.
Jesus dude

I can think of maybe 2 Jim Carrey fart jokes on the top of my head, both of which work by the way. That video had 61 "Kevin James is fat" jokes or puns, and he certainly has more than that.
It's not that it's a fart or fat joke, it just has to be clever. Jim Carrey lighting up a fart in front of socialites and having them be entertained by it is funny, because Lloyd is so stupid that he perceives rich people as thinking he's being witty and intellectual by doing the least appropriate thing possible in public. It creates a nice and funny contrast on how the world actually works.
Kevin James just trips because he's slow, fat, stupid, and clumsy, but man does he have a big heart. That's the absolute gist of almost every single falling joke in a Kevin James film.

You're not paying attention to the context of the scene though. They are all used in different contexts and know why the fart joke would work in these circumstances. Jim Carrey may not be in his prime, but the guy was an original. He had a new outrageous take on comedy, and audiences still continue to love his films to this day. The guy was pretty much a live action Warner Bros cartoon, and that's pretty difficult to do. No one else could have played Lloyd Christmas that well.
With Kevin James, the concept on all his falls is the same: he's fat, but god is he lovable. It takes a bit of wit and cleverness to think of a scene that works in context. A fart joke that worked in Dumb and Dumber may not have worked in other circumstances. It's not as simple as "Hey, Harry is taking a huge shite in the bathroom". With Happy Madison films, there's no set-up. Stupid shite just happens and doesn't build up for any later payoff.

Did you just deeply analyze someone farting on a lighter? That movie is funny, but to act as if other comedy actors suck because you don't like them, is ridiculous.
And you think fricking Ace Ventura has wit and complexity?
Squirting the ketchup and mustard in their mouths after eating the peppers must be equivalent to Matt Damon and his explanation as to why he shouldn't work for the NSA in good will hunting.

Yes I had to explain it to you. You think I'm saying that simply because it's a fat or a fart joke, then its juvenile and thus not funny. I'm just trying to point out for you that in order for a joke to work, it's got to contrast with something or set up something down the line. That's what great comedies get. It's not simply funny because a guy is fat, a minority, or stupid. You've got to bring it back to reality in some way. Happy Madison films don't generally do that.

Didn't mention this movie. Not a fan of it really. Don't hate it, but didn't think it was great.

OK, let's put comedies down to the lamest joke they produce. This is not a scene people think of when people think of Dumb and Dumber.

Just saying, can't criticize the comedy of James when Carey also has about 57 moments like the ones I mentioned.

Umm, bullshite. Please come up with 60 Jim Carrey fart jokes for me please. Don't even bother though, because I doubt he's had 10 fart jokes his entire career.

Can find 60 moments of pure stupid shite on the level of a fart joke.
Remember. I think the movies are funny. You are hypocritical though. Going way too far to say you don't like his style.

OK, sorry, my opinion is now completely invalid. The great Kevin James is a much greater comic genius than Jim Carrey for thinking of falling on his face because he's fat 25 times in the same movie. Sorry I didn't know you liked it, so I must be wrong.

This video summarizes his style pretty well. If you like Kevin James movies, you're going to be in tears after watching this: LINK

I should have been more clear. I like dumb and dumber as an example and some Carey movies.
I take them both for what they are and you do not

The M/TV Board, where people go to criticize other peoples preferences because they're insecure sacks of shite.

Grown Ups is a good movie. It's stupid but entertaining and I enjoy every second of it.
