Cut plenty. What you don't burn this year you can use the next.

It has to be a Bois D'arc. Also known as Bodarc, Hedgeapple, Osage Orange or the Horseapple. I have a few in my back yard. The wood is extremely hard and makes great recurve bows. My French is awful but I believe Bois D'arc means bow wood. It also has the highest BTU of any hardwood. Bring extra blades and files if you plan on doing much cutting on them.

Last year not much maybe a chord. Year before over 2. I have two fireplaces and I load them up.

I go through about 1 1/2 cords a yr, I get mine from the sawmill. If you have a sawmill nearby, check it out, they cut the ends off and split/sell for firewood.

We always buy a half cord and always have wood left over as it just doesnt get cold anymore. But we have central air and heat and just burn it old cold nights

Can vary quite a bit. I'm fortunate to be able to harvest firewood off my property, and also find that many people don't burn so when a tree goes down in a storm, or when they pay a tree svc to remove, I get a chance to score some free. In fact I have never paid for firewood.
That said, I burn about 1/2 to 1 cord per winter. Moderately efficient woodstove, 1500 sq ft well insulated home and we don't attempt to heat the outer rooms with the woodstove, only the familyroom and kitchen.
Woodstove will bring the house up from 60 to 78 in about 3 hours, no matter how cold it is outside.
Wood heat is very comforting. Woodstove>>>>>>fireplace
Free wood>>>not free wood
Oak>>>> most other species IME.

I like your uncle's German Shepherd chained in the woodshed to protect his stash from Treyvons coming to steal his wood.

You are right. I apologize. I should have known they only burn Styrofoam plate lunch boxes and baby diapers in the hood.
