Tops and similar set ups by different names certainly give lotto state schools an advantage when talking about fielding consistently good ball teams..that's really not disputable. Is it one of the main factors for success? Absolutely not.

It basically allows School A (lotto school) to offer sweeter deals to more players than school B (non lotto). You can cast a wider net and stand a better shot in recruiting with working for you and not against you

So does it give lsu an advantage over auburn, bama, ole miss, msu on a consistent basis? Yes. An advantage over uga and Florida? No

The La system is nothing close to a "lottery" system. It must be earned by the student ans student athlete.

First of all, baseball has been decimated by the NCAA, those athletes cannot hope to get a full scholarship, thanks to political correctness and the lap-dog-mentality-of-the-NCAA's leadership.

Second of all, ONLY LOUISIANA ATHLETES CAN UTILIZE TOPS, GIVEN THE NORMAL LAY OF THE LAND. There are instances where young people from military families and outsiders who established residency for 2 year, where they can qualify for TOPS. However, you cannot get TOPS if you are recruited in a sport, from out of state, that IS NOT AN EXCEPTION OF LOSFA.......PERIOD.

SO...the Mississippi fans who talk about this, don't know what they are talking about. But like the USL fans, they are envious of their shadow....they are needy, in general, and in that set of needs is a need for more education. I don't mean to disparage those folks more than they-disparage-themselves, but they really are barking up the wrong tree, and they are probably Bulldoggies, who have finally advanced to a championship game, looking like cowyard thugs, so they can just shut up

Close friends of the family plays LSU softball and said to make sure my daughters grades were right if she wants to get recruited due to being eligible for TOPS and such. She was student of the year in middle school so thats not a problem. So I take that for what it's worth. Guess it does have a small advantage.
