Well I wasn't really comparing their skill sets. More of their body types. Peterson was a TE by position but he was pretty thin guy by the standards of a TE.

I gotcha.

Just wanted to make the point that I anticipate Smith being a far more effective pass-catcher immediately, and in the long run.

Oh I agree. I was always intrigued by what we had in Dlo but either we didn't use him or he couldn't be consistent enough. I think Smith has the skills to make a lot of plays the next few years. I always wondered why, given our somewhat conservative approach, we didn't use more simple throws to a TE.

Gordon will be the starting TE, but Smith will come in during passing situations. I see us actually using a good bit of 2 TE sets with Cameron. The Ravens used it a good bit with Pitta and Ed Dickson. 1 is a more complete TE, while the other is more a receiving threat. Plus, I think Smith is already 1 of our top receiving threats we have on the team right now. Hes a mismatch nightmare. Id love to have Gordon on the line with OBJ split out wide to his side then have Smith split out wide with Jarvis in the slot. It would be tough to cover that. Smith would dominate DBs with height and LBs with his speed and athleticism. Gordon would be a force in the middle of the field with his size and strength. Not to mention having OBJ and Jarvis out there with them.

Im really pumped about the TEs we have right now
