seems like granny sliced em,, sugared heavily and they sat out on the fruit porch where she canned and preserved all the fruit. i think they would sorta "dry out" with the heavy sugar and outside air?

salt makes more sense,,, but seems like they were sweet when she got through with them,,,, maybe a mixture of salt and sugar? i could ask aunt geauxt,, or you could call her? You know her number
