compare these two scenarios...
xbox:
I login. i want to play bf3. I send a party chat req to 6 friends. they are all playing different games. everyone can get into the chat, say "let me finish up, be on in 5, sure, sounds good, let me go get a drink" etc
ps3:
I login. i want to play bf3. Id have to send 6 typed out messages on a bitch arse controller to convey my interest to party up? then everyone would have to type a message back?!
id shoot myself.

I agree that the cross game chat is an awesome feature.
There have been several occasions when my party is still waiting for someone to show up for our designated time. So, you've got one guy playing Fable, I'm playing Super Meat Boy, someone else is playing their solo character in Borderlands 2 and then, boom, everybody is there and you start the game you all were there to play.
It's nice. Every modern console needs this feature.

its frustrating as frick but i just see if they are playing the game i am and just jump in their match
