Yes UCLA was the best team and won it all but if college baseball has to turn in to small ball to win it and everyone starts going towards that, college baseball loses. People like points and action. They also like how 1 swing can change a game. Those of us who actually use to pitch and understand the importance of keeping pitches down in the zone, rather than intentionally putting them in the zone because tey know the bats will allow the park to hold it in, gets frustrated watching bad pitching get rewarded.
In the 90's great pitchers were hurt but mediocre hitters with a awesome bats. Now good to great hitters look bad against subpar pitching.
If you hang a curve ball, you should pay.
If you throw high in the zone, you should pay.
If you crush a ball, you should be rewarded.
Now you'll see kids start turning down college ball to go straight to the Pro's if this continues.
