yeah, so would i be. but guess what? it's a fricking business. DEAL WITH IT.

I agree. But unfortunately the way players deal with it is to be twats until they get free money, and get to go play wherever they want.

My solution?

Refuse to pay Marion until he shows up then, when he shows up, play him 48 minutes a night until he either accepts a buyout for pennies on the dollar or retires.

Our front office has been EXCEEDINGLY good with players about sending them out for either pennies on the dollar value-wise or to our financial expense to get playing time elsewhere (Jack, Hakim Warrick, etc.). Marion would be getting this treatment for being an a-hole instead of being reasonable.

If he wants us to buy him out so he can go elsewhere, I have no problems with paying him $3m to go away. That's 1/3 of his salary to go sign with the Heat.

If he wants more than that, despite the fact that he'll have opted-in on his contract AFTER finding out about the trade, I'd have Monty run him up and down the court until his a-hole was sucking buttermilk.

EDIT-

One of the side-effects of doing this would be that we likely end up with a high 2014 draft pick.

The league could claim we were being non-competitive and we could argue back "Hey, we tried to be competitive but the guy we brought in to start for us didn't cooperate. And you assholes didn't seem too interested in helping us out with that."
