No, when it came down to it our clutch guys couldn't produce.
The best teams play their best when its all on the line. We didn't.
I don't know what it is about some people, but they can't accept defeat. LSU fans are really bad about this. We aren't the best team.
By what everyone seems to be saying in this thread, we probably weren't the best team in 2009 when we won. Well frick you, we were, that's why we won the National Championship.
If you can't win in the CWS, no matter what excuses you want to pull out, then you aren't the best. It is really quite simple, we scored 3 fricking runs in 18 innings.
The best team in baseball can only score 3 runs in 18 innings? bullshite.

But UCLA only scored 2 runs in 18 when they played Oregon St., so

That's fine, did they win?
We scored 3 runs against 2 teams in 18 innings and lost.
It isn't like we blew through our regional/super either. No we didn't lose any games, but damn if they weren't tight for the most part.
We lost folks, twice. Once to a team that is now in the final series and once to a team that was seeded higher than us going into the CWS.
Posted on 6/25/13 at 8:47 am to TexasTiger1185
They lost 5-0, 5-2.
And you think seeds have to do with which team is better?

Not really.
You think the best team in college baseball comes in and completely whiffs?
Jesus, learn to accept it man. We lost, if we were the best we wouldn't have lost the first 2 games.

Lol at some of you idiots. The best team doesn't always win. Sports wouldn't be worth watching if they did.
That being said - LSU probably wasn't the very best this year.

The best team don't always win the championship.
The best team doesn't always even make it to the championship game/series.
The loser of a championship is not a loser.
There are a lot of variables that go into winning a championship: coaching, execution, luck, weather...among many other intangibles.

We should change the playoff system. Take the top 64 teams and have a best of 7 series 1 vs. 64, 2 vs 63, etc. until there is only one!

We play up to our capabilities, yes
Play the way we did going 0-2....no

Where have I said LSU is the best team?
You're arguments just suck is all and I'm pointing them out.

You pulled one point out of my original explanation of why we aren't the best.
We just weren't the best. It really isn't that big of a deal, we had a great team. We set an LSU wins record, we got our seniors to Omaha, we won the SEC tournament (I know, lots of people don't give a shite, but I do).
You can have a great season and not be the best team.

This thread is stupid. The best team doesn't always win the championship or even reach the finals. In fact, most often, they don't. We're definitely a better team than Mississippi State, and I'd say overall we're a more talented team than UCLA. Anyone who thinks you can completely judge a team based on the final few games and ignore the entire season is a fool.
Are we the best team? I don't know. That honor might belong to UNC or hell, even Vandy. But they don't give out trophies to the best team, they give out trophies to the teams that win at the right time.

LSU was clearly a top 5 probably top 3 team this year
Vandy #1
UNC #2
LSU #3
you can mix that order in any way
Vandy was knocked out in the reigonals
UNC went 2-2 in omaha
LSU went 0-2 in omaha.
if each of these teams played the other 6 in omaha in a regular season matchup neutral site. I suspect they would have won 6 of 10 vs every team. Meaning they probably would win the majority of series against these teams 2-1.
UL played their best baseball in the supers
UCLA is playing their best baseball in omaha.

I had a few to choose from.
You said if a team does not win the CWS, it can't be the best, right? Shenanigans!

LSU is still the best in baseball this year.
...and 2005 USC is still the greatest football team of all time.
In fact, USC 2003-2008 was the best team in football by far - regardless of championships.
