But seriously, if you want to stop a bird, use birdshot. If you want to stop a bad guy, you are gonna have to go bigger. Over penetration will be an issue though as there is no perfect round for your scenario.
Might want to do some testing on some frangible buckshot if you can find it. Until then, my recommendation would be #4 buck.
