I see where the first pick for Houston signed out of Stanford. Stanford not being in the CWS, brings me to this question. Players that are in the CWS, are they and can they begin the negotiation process and sign a contract while playing in it?

Technically they can begin the negotiation process, but traditionally the team will wait until the player is finished with his season. Definitely can't sign.. They immediately lose amateur status and would be ineligible.
