I think that may put tesla out of business if they have a universal battery replacement between the majors. Does tesla really produce a better car or are they just a first mover in a niche market?

Tesla makes better cars. Consumer reports gave the Model S a 99. The battery strength was the only reason for it not getting a 100. Only one other car has ever received a 99 (a Lexus, I think).
