I'm not so sure. These new bats are basically equivalent to wooden bats or even worse. So I would assume that College Baseball will eventually just go to wooden bats, might as well

So basically I think it would have been a huge risk for bat companies and their future to have pushed for the BBCOR

Probably not. I wold imagine that keeping a stock of wooden bats costs more than aluminum because they are not as durable and have to constantly be replaced.
