Here's mine based mainly on the last few weeks...

Bracket 1

1) Louisville, 5 wins in a row, 8-2 last 10, swept @ Vandy
2) Oregon St, 2 wins in a row, 8-2 last 10
3) Indiana, 6 wins in a row, 9-1 last 10, swept @ FSU
4) Miss St, 3 wins in a row, 8-2 last 10, swept @ Virginia

Bracket 2

1) LSU, 8 wins in a row, 9-1 last 10, swept OU
2) UCLA, 6 wins in a row, 8-2 last 10, swept Fullerton
3) NC State, 5 wins in a row, 9-1 last 10, swept Rice
4) N Car, 1 win in a row, 8-2 last 10, shaky vs. USCe and FAU

I think anybody can win it, but it would be very tough for Indiana and NC State because they haven't been to Omaha in a long time. (Bertman's greenhorn theory)

What do you think?

I would love to see Indiana make it to the championship series. (and of course lose to LSU).

So in your hypothetical you leave the bracket participants the same and reseed 1-4 in each?

why not reseed all 8 if the objective is to have the best teams at the end? not knocking your way, I'm just curious. reseeding has been a topic for years.

I think a seeded top 8 is key for football playoffs, but not so much in baseball.

Since we have to get through a 4 team bracket first, I thought this method was more meaningful.

UNC has been a top 3 team all year. They had a tough draw but survived. Now you're ready to call them the worst team in Omaha?

If we come out of our bracket I have no doubt that we will win the CWS.

The other side looks weak as shite compared to ours

You do realize that this LSU team has never been to Omaha either right? Greenhorn theory goes for us too if you really think about it.

While I like the thread I think your thinking is flawed.

First off why not reseed 1-8 instead of just the two sides of the bracket.

Secondly, "Bertamns greenhorn theory" is that players needed to go to Omaha to get the experience and then return the following year or years to win it. By that thinking LSU is not in a good position to win it since not a single player has ever been to Omaha.

Not what I am saying. I watched them struggle in the regional and super regional, that's all. The other teams have playing well.

This is not a science - just trying to stimulate discussion.

These players have never stepped on the field at Omaha just the same way NC State and Indiana haven't. So your 4 years < 45 years and never makes zero sense.

Does LSU look like a team that would get overwhelmed with a venue?

These guys may not have made it to Omaha in their careers but playing in big games in front of big crowds is their job.

I think they should have been reseeded after every regional.

UNC got the 1 seed and drew the most experienced CWS team in the entire bracket. Meanwhile, NC State lucked its way into hosting a Super Regional and also drew arguably the easiest opponent.

I know. shite happens. But hockey does it, don't they?

Re-seeding would actually look something like this if left to the Cmte....

1) UNC
2) Oregon St
3) LSU
4) Louisville
5) Miss St
6) UCLA
7) NC State
8) Indiana

basically, same clusters except UNC/OSU swap brackets.

In reality, teams probably rank:

1) LSU
2) Oregon St
3) Louisville
4) UNC
5) Miss St
6) UCLA
7) NC State
8) Indiana

I would have reseeded the Super Regionals

UNC/Oklahoma
Vanderbilt/Rice
OSU/Miss State
LSU/NCST
CSF/UCLA
Virginia/K State
FSU/Indiana
South Carolina/Louisville

Or something that closely resembled that

Nobody makes it to the CWS by sucking. All the teams are on a roll and haven't lost much at all, and nobody has lost 2 games in a long time. Even teams that were shaky getting through their Super Regional are damn good teams and can get hot at any moment. USCe was not an easy match up for UNC. USCe probably would have given any of the 8 teams a tough time...and would have beaten some of the teams in the CWS had they played them.

Why is re-seeding necessary? They don't re-seed the NCAA basketball tournament just because a 12 beats a 5 thereby leaving the #1 seed playing a better team (seed wise) than the #4 seed in the second round. They don't reseed the sweet 16 just because a cindarella 13 makes a run.

Why would you even seed the teams at the outset of the tournament, only do essentially change your opinion of them later? Seems a bit unfair don't you think?
