You will enjoy the shite out of it

I liked it!
I wasn't two big on the first track and "If I had a Tail". But overall, I enjoyed it.

Great album and I agree that "Keep Your Eyes Peeled" is the best track.

Set the tone for the album. Desert Rock
The bass line is soooo damn good.

Kalopsia is my fav. song on the album. Sat by the ocean is probably second.

It's a very cohesive album. Every song has a similar mood to it. It's hard to explain but it just makes you feel a little creepy. I like it. No other album that I've ever listened to has made me feel this way.
Where it ranks among other QOTSA albums...I'm not sure yet. I was in love with this album the first few weeks but it has lost its luster for me recently. I probably overplayed it... But right now I would rank the albums: SFTD > Rated R > Like Clcokwork > S/T > Era Vulgaris > Lullabies

I have yet to wear it out. I have listened to it over 30 times which some of you will find insane I am sure.
Your rankings are of their albums are odd to me.
I cannot decide out of SFTD, Lullabies or Like Clockwork for the top Like Clock work easily goes up there for me.
Rated R has a special place for me, it was the first album of theirs I heard but its not as strong as the other three overall.
Era Vulgaris and Self titled bringing up the rear.
On topic: Lyrically this albums is amazing. Cannot explain it, it just does it for me.

yeah - I'm loving it. Wish there were a few more songs but that's just me being greedy. All the songs kick arse but off the bat I keep going back to "Keep your eyes peeled". Plan on jamming this shite all Summer and my QoTSA album rankings FWIW are
-Lullabies...
-Queens of the Stone Age
-Songs for the Deaf
-Era Vulgaris
-Rated R
I might put Crooked Vultures on top of all those even though its not technically qotsa and the critics kind of shite on it
I saw them w/ Dax Riggs in 2007 on the Era Vulgaris tour and they just killed - probably the best show I've ever seen but then I'm a huge fan
I'm hoping they release more dates but if not may spring to see them at Red Rocks in August. Would appreciate hearing if anyone has any plans seeing them on this tour. Think they're doing 2 nights at ACL but I'd rather see them outside of a festival if I can help it
tldr; my $0.2; proceed
Spin wrote a really good review - talks about that creepiness and vibe of the record

quote:I'm a big fan of their early days when they had Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri trade off with Josh on lead vocals. I thought it added a really cool dynamic to the band. This is why I have SFTD and Rated R as my top. Millionaire is just such a great opener to an album...same with Feel Good Hit of the Summer.

The self-titled album is just so damn raw and it sometimes sneaks its way into one of my favorites. All in all, every one of their albums has been great so there isn't a huge gap in how much more I like one over the other. It really is hard to choose.

Auto Pilot comes to mind...
The lineup change NEVER ONCED hindered the music. That says a lot
ETA: Jon Theeodore coming on board is really nice to see to. Dave G won't be able to go full time, and Jon is a good rock drummer. loved him in TMV

Looks like they played the whole album on Letterman Live.
I have already went threw the NPR show a few times. Would be great if they aired this whole thing on cable TV...

Album expected to debut at #1

Queens of the Stone Age ( live)
If you skip to 18 mins in they have a great on stage interview with Josh Homme. Talks about the album's inspiration and the current set up for the band. He refers to this as being Act 2 of QOTSA
the set is also very good. Has some old tracks mixed in.

"Fairweather Friends"
Is there anyone out there?
Or am I walking alone?
When I turned around and found that you'd gone before
The first rain could fall
It seems every single time I was bleeding
Broken promises that never came true
Well it ain't so long before the dawn
When the sun is gone so are
Well, so are you
So what's it gonna take
To get you back in bed?
Gossip, drugs, and snakes
They're just our best fairweather friends (fairweather Friends)
Fairweather Friends (fairweather Friends)
One day when we're far away
From everything that hurts
Drink and screw is all we'll do
Every day
So what's it gonna take
To get you back in bed?
Gossip, drugs, and snakes
They're just our best fairweather friends (fairweather Friends)
And though the hour's late
Don't let 'em in your head (fairweather Friends)
Gonna pray for rain again and again
Fairweather Friends
Fairweather Friends (fairweather Friends)
Fair--I don't give a shite about 'em anyhow...

Great song and album. They just added Houston to tour in Feb at Bayou Music Center. I know nothing about the place but I'm going for tickets just in case they skip Nola.

They are more than likely skipping NOLA. Most acts do.

They have an open date between Orlando and Houston but I'm guessing they'll use that day for rest.
