@ssgtiger I agree. Kobe is technically out of his prime and look at him now. Its just that whatever team he will be on will probably be less unbeatable. Especially with our budding superstars

quote:very well put and I agree with all of it except one part. this is just flat out not true
Jordan was drafted into a very large market, who just so happened to draft great talent around him. Like Scottie pippen. And they made great trades to get guys like Rodman. Michael Jordan was essentially drafted into the heat of his time. LeBron on the other hand was drafted to an incompetent franchise in a small market who never put any major players next to LeBron nor did they make any effort to. What's the best they put by him? Mo Williams, aging Shaq, Anderson verajao. That team was going to expect LeBron to put the entire fate of the franchise on his back until he retired.
If you just want to shrug off my past statements as just opinions, here are some nice facts for you. Take Jordan off of his team for two years and the bulls made it to the second round two years in a row. Ranking 5th and 3rd in the conference in those two years. Take LeBron off of the cavs and they become the second worst team in the NBA.
Its pretty simple, LeBron is not dirty. He's not an a-hole for leaving Cleveland to get into the situations that players like Bird, Magic, and Jordan were lucky enough to be drafted into. He's not a flopper, as Jordan definitely did his fair share. He's an elite player. The second best of all time and by the time his career ends he will be the best. So you can hate and keep spewing ignorant statements all you want. It wont matter.

It was pathetic to watch "lifelong LSU fans" yelling Roll Tide Roll
Exaggeration. Doubt you heard a single LSU fan even say Roll Tide Roll without a massive undertone of sarcasm. Rooting against the arrogance of the ND institution or the arrogance of the USCw fanbase isn't "pathetic", especially if you consider the streak and how the streak actually helps LSU considerably more than Bama losing the ND game.
I'd argue that anyone that cheers for the Heat without previous attachment pre-LBJ is not a fan of the sport of basketball. LBJ started the "Primadonna Era" in the NBA. He's an amazing talent that brought reality TV-esque drama into the highest level of the sport. I abhor the attitudes of today's NBA star players and the only thing that keeps me watching is I find the sport fascinating and we have a team in the city.

Thank you. I should go edit that. He is definitely a flopper, but what I meant to stress was that he isn't the only one who does it and it certainly doesn't take away from his game

I'm pretty sure guys like Kobe and mr. I own a shoe company Jordan could be put in the category of primadonna. Flashy clothes and cockiness have been a part of the game for years. More so than other sports. Its not the players that have changed, its the times. Now days we have stupid styles like hipster and things like that. Horrible, yes. New, no.

Never have and never will understand the hate towards LeBron James

Great article, but I still just don't believe it affects us all that much. The CBA will crack down on Miami Heat like teams being built, and its about to crack down on the heat. Divas will always be divas. You'll always have your Dwights and Carmelos in this league who want to go make a super team. How many have really panned out? How has this one panned out? The heat don't really look unbeatable right now. In my opinion, the league wont change for better or for worse whether the heat win another title or not. So I'll go for LeBron and the heat, while also being prepared to be perfectly happy if the spurs win as well. Like you said, Tim and Pop are gone and that's one more west team out of our way.

I live in Florida most of my life, I'm gonna root for whoever plays the Heat all the time. Plus they may be a rival, but I respect them a lot
Posted on 6/8/13 at 12:03 am to chrisksaint
So do I. I respect both teams
Posted on 6/8/13 at 6:00 pm to WhoDatPelican596
Although I do care about rivalries, I don't feel as strongly about the Pelicans' rivals, as I do the rivals of my favorite NFL or MLB team. In the NBA there are certain teams and players I don't care for (Nuggets, Heat, Knicks) and would root against these teams when they play a divisional "rival". I'm one of those people who will almost root against any team that has bought success.

dumb dumb dumb
how many of you people saying this would pull for team sec vs anybody else. my guess is most.
forget the heat!

I'm not rooting for the Spurs, just rooting against the Heat. It's awful to see either of them win again, but I really hate Lebron and co. It hurts me to do this, but Spurs in 6.
Posted on 6/11/13 at 9:44 am to JohnnyKilroy
what were we 27-55? I have no qualms about rooting for the Spurs... we're in the same division but right now we're not rivals
maybe i'll hate them if they're the main competition when we're ready to compete, but not until then
also I don't hate the Heat, I hate their bandwagon fans

Didn't read past the first page, but because it looked like you were getting killed, I agree with OP. frick the Spurs.
I don't root for the Falcons because I "think they did it the right way." If the Spurs and Mavs were made entirely of adorable underprivileged children I would still want them to lose every single game.

they aren't a rival.the falcons are not a fair comparison.

Says who? They're in our division and we took them to 7 in basically the only meaningful series in (NOLA) franchise history. Don't know what else you need.
Posted on 6/11/13 at 5:57 pm to TheChiefHasArrived
so you hate the spurs as much as you hate the falcons?

we had one series against the spurs and now we are supposed to be hated rivals? we have minimal history with them, no comparable success and I would bet 99.9% of spurs fans don't even think about our team when thinking about rivalries. this is not a legit rivalry.
