My failure:
From reading this board I bought about $30,000 of MVIS 4 or 5 years ago. It's worth around $3,000 today. I'm still holding onto it because I think the technology will be big in the near future and because, frick it, it's only worth $3,000.
My success:
I invested in an ambulatory surgery center in 2008 - 6% ownership (6 shares) at $6,000 per share. I have received around $1.1 million in distributions since then. In addition we sold a majority ownership at the end of 2012. As part of that I sold 2 shares for just over $400,000 each.
