Went to this last night, I was pretty excited going into it as it seemed like an original idea with a cool premise and it was... kinda.
The intro starts where we get to see each of the 4 horsemen individually working their magic. Props to Woddy, his character is funny in that classic Harrelson way.
without divulging too much of the story, ill say that it has kind of an Oceans 11 feel to it with a twist. Instead of not finding out the solution until the very end like in O11/12/13, Now You See Me does a give-a-little get-a-little in a way that keeps you guessing, but lets you know what is happening at the same time.
The ending is a little predictable but not so much thrown in your face. They keep you guessing as to the who, but the why i pretty obvious. The end also seems kinda strange. The whole movie is based around "nothing is really magic" but the end makes it seem like magic is real. it just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the story.
it also seemed like they tried to film it in 3d but decided not to at the last moment. the "magic" graphics would have been pretty cool in 3d (and i hate 3d).
I wish they would have focused more on the 4 horsemen team. their part seems pretty secondary as far as screentime goes. most of the movie focuses on mark ruffalo and Shoshanna, and the romance they create between them confused me. it really wasnt necessary and i wish they hadn't done it.
Jesse Eisenburg comes off as a douche (as always) and they try and throw in a love twist with Isla Fisher that seems out of place as they only mention it a couple times, but nothing really pans out from it.
Woody is funny. His mentalist power parts are great. all i can say on him.
Franco... is just so Franco (seinfeld anyone)
All-in-all, im glad i went to see it. It was good, not great, but a good waste of time. if you don't have any problem spending money to see movies in theatres, i recommend it for a rainy day.
7/10

Didn't read your post because I'm not sure if I want to see the movie or not. Would you recommend seeing it in theaters or wait for it to come out on red box?

I'm against waiting for movies i even kinda want to see to hit redbox so im glad i saw it in theaters.
It wasn't bad, but i know some people only go to see highly anticipated, 10/10, summer blockbuster movies in theatres. this isn't one of those, but it is pretty good.
I think it is good enough to warrant a trip to the movies.

Just got out of the movie and it was great. I figured some of the stuff out halfway through and I didn't see the ending coming

I thought Isla Fisher was really good in the movie and it was cool when she did that piranha stunt at the beginning
