I still like the idea of having people do a refresher every now and then. Call me paranoid, but I'd rather not have people out there CCing with little to no training.
I read an article a while back, I can't find it now, where most gun owners shoot less than 6 rounds per year. If you are CCing and not regularly training then well ... you are screwed.
When you go to the range and stress is non-existent, your worst shot will probably be your best shot in a self defense scenario. Your hands will be shaking. You wont be standing perfectly still and neither will your target. You won't have the time to get a good sight picture. No closing one eye, lining it up and taking a deep breath while you slowly pull the trigger back.
It will be a scary, quick, down and dirty. Practice, Practice, Practice else you are endangering others as well as yourself.
Accidents happen when we don't train and aren't diligent in everything we do.

quote:Hardly. There have recently been women killing intruders in their homes. One with a .22. The training is 36 shots. Per the article, "Live range fire shall include 12 rounds each at six feet, 10 feet, and 15 feet for a total of 36 rounds."

Hardly significant imo.

So you still have to retrain every 5 years? What's lifetime about it then, other than the fee?
